If you are considering "Hotel Flamingo" (also known as Hotel Pink Flamingo" located in San Fernando barrio, Cali, Colombia please read this review. Perhaps you will save yourself aggravation and money. ||||First, let me state the location is quiet, clean and the hotel is attractive and well-kept. The staff is pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately, the positives end there. ||||I have visited Cali, Colombia 3 times this year. My first stay was at the Hotel Mayor Plaza; I liked the staff and location so I booked an additional stay for May. The owner sold the hotel and this is where my problem begins. ||||1. On January 19, 2015 I paid in full to reserve a room from May 9 - 25 at the Hotel Plaza Mayor Cali (owned and operated by the same man who owns Hotel Flamingo).||||2. In March 2015, during my second visit, I noticed the Hotel Plaza Mayor changed its name to Granada Inn. I asked the manager of the Plaza Mayor (now working for Granada Inn) and he assured me my reservation for May 9 - 25 was intact. ||||3. May 3rd, six days before my trip to Cali, I was notified through email that my reservation had been transferred to Hotel Flamingo (owned by same person who owned Hotel Plaza Mayor).||||4. I sent numerous emails for information and to confirm my stay from May 9 - 25.||||5. Emails go unanswered until 1 day before my arrival. Hotel Flamingo finally confirms my room is paid in full from May 9 to May 25.||||6. May 21 (today) I am told an error was made and that my reservation was only for 15 nights. I am told that I need to check out May 23; I argue that all my correspondence clearly states May 9 - 25th and even the receipt shows my paid reservation is from May 9 to 25. The owner flat refuses to correct the hotel’s mistake by honoring my reservation dates.||||I will now need to book another hotel for the last 2 nights of my stay. This is unacceptable business practice and thievery; he sees the error is a miscalculation from his previous employee, yet he refuses to accommodate me the additional 2 nights without charge.||||I strongly suggest you do not stay at the Hotel Flamingo. The owner will take your money and treat you horribly because he believes you have no recourse. Plus, my room had a broken shade that was unable to be raised, so my room did not get the natural sunlight from the balcony. My numerous requests to have this fixed also went unresolved. Hotel Flamingo is not worth the hassle or sudden changes in reservation status.||||If anyone needs proof of these events I am able to forward you all my emails from January until now and show you a copy of the receipt (which is...
Read moreWhatever you do "Do not stay at this Hotel!" Not only is it tired and old and sticky, the sheets are worn and had holes in them and, moreover, the shower didn't work; we couldn't shower! We checked in at 6pm and complained 3 times. Things got heated at the front desk and the manager yelled at me and told me I could leave the hotel! They finally gave us another room at 3am. All the employees we encountered were rude or didn't speak English! Also, the check-in and check-out front desk took forever - over an hour! I would not stay at this hotel even if they comp my stay! Trust me, spend a little more money and stay at a better hotel! This hell hole sucks! Last thing, this is to you Mr. Front Desk Manager "Juan" , you are a pathetic manager! How you still have your job is no wonder since the rest of your staff follows this hotel's lead!...
