Stayed for my birthday, upgraded my room because it was dirty and next to a waste water pipe that smelled terrible. During upgrade nobody told me I would upgrade to a room next to major construction the morning after my birthday I was woken up at 7am to power tools and hammers. Terrible. In addition to this the prices are high. The scuba diving instructor is stressed and made my first dive uncomfortable so that maybe I won’t do it again, some other guests said the same that he was rude. There is a man there that defines himself as a guide called Alfredo, he isn’t staff he just hangs out and scams you. He was messaging us weeks after we left begging us for more money. There isn’t any surfing or English speakers there so the website is not accurate with that. Last day of checkout the electricity went and there was no paper backup to pay our huge bill, so we were held capitive on the island for hours whilst we waited for them to solve the issue. The process was painfully slow the same as check in was, the slowest in the world maybe. Only good thing was Catarina who was excellent at working there, I hope she moves on to a better job soon. I will...

What a sweet little place! We loved every minute here and on Isla Fuerte. Despite the adventure of the journey there, everything is just really easy at La Playita. The staff is very warm, welcoming and inclusive. We met some wonderful fellow travelers and were invited along to parties and on hikes. We saw a sloth which was truly magical. ||The food at La Playita is amazing. We were two weeks into our Colombia travels so we eagerly welcomed healthy food options. The drinks were also quite tasty and fairly priced. ||We opted for the private cabana which was fun and well suited for our needs. The dorms and hammocks would have been fine too. I was worried about noise from partying but the location of the bar makes it a non-issue. ||We really appreciated the complimentary filtered water, board games and assistance with our boat to Isla Mucura. ||There are several interesting eco initiatives and it was fun to experience a sea water bucket flush system. ||Isla Fuerte is beautiful and La Playita is an experience of its own. We definitely recommend checking it out for at...

The hostel didn't tell us there was gonna be "small" construction happening until after we pay the whole reservation. Since it was a confirmation text there was no app to cancel, so we still took the time to arrive to paso nuevo, even tho they said they will arrange transportation, they put us in a boat coming from the town market full of groceries. We got soaked and on top of that a 20 minute ride ended up being 45 minutes for the boat being overloaded, horrible ride. We arrived and the place was a mess, the bar was wrecked and there was absolutely no ambiance or music playing, It felt like we were invading someone's yard all the time. They didn't give us a guide right away to go to the beaches saying the guide only comes in the mornings. The construction woke us up at 7 am sharp with people screaming. It was an absolute nightmare. We paid 2 nights and ended up staying only one. I hope this review helps when you try to book and ask the right questions before putting...

A great little spot in paradise. The place is generally really well kept (with a bit too much plastic waste, though, as is generally the case with much of Colombia unfortunately) and the staff is really friendly as well. Jeff, one of the owners, is the embodiment of a place like this. A real Australian surfer dude, real chill and welcoming. I see some people commenting on the lack of AC and that you have to flush the toilets with sea water, but this is just what comes with going to a small, non-touristy island. I think you can get better amenities by going to some of the more well known islands, but then you also get the tourists. We preferred this, and we didn't find the amenities to be a problem at all. There's a lot of activities such as surfing, paddleboarding, snorkling, etc. The restaurant was also a lot better than expected. Fresh fish, good burgers, pasta, good vegetarian options, etc. Something for everyone

If you want to relax, and have a chill time, learn champeta, play volleyball and dive La playita Is the place to be. Rooms are comfortable but not luxury. The whole experience is more for relaxing personalities If you are looking for only dive experience I suggest going between April and Jun. Over all the food is nice, though garlic is used too much and food is highly condimented, if you don't like it make sure you ask to take it away. The hotel has a small beach ⛱️, really nice when nice weather, but you can walk to cebolleta for a more private experience, or San Diego for moore public but really lovely waters. Make sure to drink only filtered water and bring your medical kit with a variety of medicine you may need. Sometimes there are viruses on the island. La playita is a great place to forget about everything and take time to yourself!

We didn't stay here, but seeing some of the reviews for the bar and restaurant I thought I'd take the time to leave a review. I would recommend this place for a meal and some drinks. We used it twice during our stay on the island. Spacious with good seating and view. Nice music at a good level so you can still hear the waves. Service was instant on both occasions with someone coming over smiling and helpful as soon as we sat down. Service was quick, cocktails well made, and the food was excellent. Simple, well done food with generous portions. We had a great visit on both occasions watching the stars come out. Would recommend as a nice place to enjoy some good music, eat and drink well, and get good service. Do keep in mind if you are not charging to a room, the food and bar bill come separately.
