We were looking for an SSI diving school on the Caribbean coast of Colombia and were so lucky to come across IF eco lodge. Juan and his team really make you feel like a family and we received a wonderfully detailed diving course from the hugely experienced dive master Juan. ||Diving: |Juan is not only a vastly experienced dive master he is also a passionate teacher, biologist, ecologist and historian! We learnt an immense amount about the science of diving, how to respect the nature, how to dive safely & responsibly whilst having a wonderful time exploring the ocean floor. Juan speaks perfect English so communication was never an issue. Victor, Anibal & Arnando were also fantastic, assisting with equipment and preparation across the dives! We felt like we were in incredibly professional hands and would love to come back for more diving around the island with Juan. ||Accommodation:|The location of the lodge is breathtaking, it was amazing waking up to the sound of the gentle waves. Our room was really pretty, spacious, great box mosquito net with zipper to get in and out that was set up for us every night, and was cleaned daily. All of these small details make it such an unforgettable experience. We had a clean en-suite with an open roofed shower, great to view the coconut trees or stars at night! The WiFi worked great in our room. ||Food: |Jeissan and Aura gave us some of the best meals we’ve had in Colombia, every meal of the day is included in your stay - this meant a delicious 3 course meal at both lunch and dinner. We had some fantastic soups, our favourite being the seafood soup. Coffee, drinking water even various fresh juices are available all the time. Jeissan and Aura were so friendly and attentive and always had a smile on their faces & incredible cooks! Muchas Gracias!||Island:|Victor & Arnando took us on a sunset boat trip to the north of the island where Arnando took us to see some local wildlife; sloths & iguanas!!! Arnando (who is born and raised on the island) also took us on a walking tour to see El Arbol Que Camina (the protected nature reserve of the island). ||Overall we had an unforgettable experience, even though our Spanish is very limited the staff were always so friendly and made us laugh. It was so great to meet all of you, Jeissan, Aura, Anibal, Arnando, Victor & Emeldo. Juan, a massive thank you again for being such a wonderful teacher and guide to introduce us to the...
Read moreMost of the time when I visit a place, I end up feeling like something was missing like I didn’t enjoy it enough. But that didn’t happen at Ecolodge. I left feeling recharged on so many levels.||Now, to the facts: the place is beautiful, you can feel the care and dedication from everyone working there. You can swim right in front of the lodge, and it’s simply relaxing. The rooms are spacious, spotless, and equipped with private bathrooms and comfortable beds perfect for resting. Every corner of the lodge is pristine. There are also cozy common areas where you can unwind or enjoy good conversations with your group or the staff. And it’s perfectly quiet during your stay. You can say quality-to-price ratio is just perfect.||My favorite part? The food. It’s honestly the best place to eat in Córdoba. The ladies in the kitchen will fill your soul with incredible meals.||I went there for a diving trip with certain expectations, but the diving team made it truly special from the detailed briefings and clear plans to the overall experience. You can absolutely trust this place. And as for Isla Fuerte it’s surrounded by coral and colorful fish, and if you’re lucky, like I was, you might even spot a dolphin.||It was such a lovely stay that, yes, I want to come back not just for Isla Fuerte, but for this piece of heaven that Juan Carlos has built over the years.||Thank you so much for opening the doors of Ecolodge. So far, this is my #1 diving hospitality experience, and it will always hold a special...
Read moreWe went to Isla Fuerte on our second day in Colombia. You can take the bus from Cartagena bus station. In the morning it is 45 min drive by taxi from the old town. We took the bus to Lorica early in the morning. From Lorica hotel organized us the taxi transfer about 1 hour and then through the hotel we book the boat to the Island. Take the coat because you can get wet on big waves. Also cover your luggage. The lodge is very nice. Food was excellent. I would suggest to take full board as it not many place on the island where you can eat. Unfortunately due to the weather conditions (low visibility) we have no diving instead of that they organized us the boat trip around the island. On the island there is small open beach. Approximately 30 minutes walk. You can see many birds and sloths. The stay was very relaxing. The weak point was WIFI. Due to the technical problem was...
