Mucura Hotel & Spa — Hotel in Cartagena

The hotel is definitely on the more humble side. The lobby area doesn’t have AC so it’s hot and you can get mosquitos on you from the open doors. The breakfast is always the same and limited. You can only have a small plate of 1-2 fruit, egg with one other thing (arepa, bread or a waffle). The rooms are small but the AC works great. The wifi can be bad at times and the TV doesn’t always work. The bedsheets and some towels have stain on them. I didn’t see any bugs in the room but the cleaning of the sheets need to be improve. The hot water goes off very quick. The kitchen ladies are very nice and attentive. They try their best & are creative with the limited menu . The workers EDWARD and LUIS were AMAZING. We loved them. They have such an amazing personality , always had a great energy (super early & very late hours) , funny , attentive and they were the best part of the hotel. The hotel experience in general is a 2-3/5 stars and Edward and Luis are 5/5 star employees. The hotel is very lucky to have employees that make guests feel that they had a good experience here despite the hotel itself not meeting our standards. Without them I’m not sure if we would have liked it here. It is also 15+mins from all the attractions. We walked around at night & no issues. It’s a 9 minute walk to the airport. I absolutely cannot say enough about how wonderful Mucura Hotel & Spa is! Dellyar and her entire team are simply amazing. From the lovely cooks that fed us deliciously each morning, to David who expertly managed and even escorted us on many excursions, to Oscar, our dutiful and friendly night caretaker. Together, they made our stay very special!

The kindness, thoughtfulness, and attention to detail you get at Mucura Hotel & Spa is unparalleled. They even gave special care to my 5 year-old son throughout our stay. So much so he is still raving about David, Mateo and all the new friends he made there.

An especially nice feature - and there are many - is the live music that is available on some evenings. A talented guitarist happily and sweetly strums traditional Colombian songs and popular standards, much to the intrigue and amusement of my little one who learned how to sing "La Bamba". I was even surprised on my birthday with a serenade and a lovely gift from the Mucura team. I had no idea this was going to happen so they made my birthday even more special.

The Mucura Hotel & Spa was perfect for us - safe, tranquil, authentic, easily accessible to all, and simply beautiful. My new home away from home...

Disadvantages: Photos completely do not cover reality (room 15), COLD WATER, hot was only for 20 seconds, then never again, Very dirty shower with hair after previous guests, MOUSES or RATS running over the ceiling just under the roof. You can hear them, especially during the night, Towels smell fine but have holes and stains, Blankets are not on the bedsheet, they are dirty with yellow and dark stains, Changing the towels with holes and dirty blankets cost an additional 30000 COP, Light from the corridor was getting into the room through the holes in the door (this hole is filled with dust), Bugs around, on the walls, (in the bed we haven't noticed), We had to ask them twice for more shampoo, they didn't give it to us at the beginning, They gave us toothpaste for which we had to pay 6000 COP while checking out, nobody mentioned it before,
