Exceptional Hospitality in Colombia’s Historic City of Bridges, As cliché as it may sound, every once in a while, you come across a business that goes above and beyond your expectations. We arrived in Honda, a beautifully preserved colonial heritage town in Colombia’s Tolima department known as the ‘City of Bridges,’ after a very long day of motorcycling, muddy and hot. After being let into the private secure parking area, we were escorted inside the hotel where we were greeted with fresh lemonade. My boots and cycling pants were quite muddy, so I asked if they had a hose that I could use to spray off my boots and motorcycling pants. A gentleman escorted me to an area where he let me hose off my boots and provided a chair that I could sit in while I was doing so. We talked about my need to get some laundry done, and they said although the hotel does not do that, they would bring it out to a local establishment and return it to my room, which they did for a very fair price. OK, that doesn’t even go into how nice this hotel is, so perhaps you’re thinking, “ Great service but not very nice place to stay.” Well, it’s quite the opposite. This is one of the nicest places I’ve been to for a number of years. The pool was refreshing after a long, hot day. As for my room, a rain showerhead, combined with nice warm water, was nice after the previous two nights when the hot water was not working or didn’t exist. The king-size bed was adorned with soft sheets and was very comfortable. I also appreciated the soft lighting in the room itself. There were a few sets of lights so you could either have a nice bright room or less so for relaxation. Early in the morning, the area’s power went out, and within about 15 seconds, the hotel’s generator kicked in, and my AC started back up, and my Internet worked. Not something you think about until you’re stuck in a hot area with no power, hence no air-conditioning in your room. In the morning, I wanted something other than eggs, so I opted for a granola and Greek yogurt topped with fresh strawberries. Delicious. Walk around this loveliest establishment, and you’ll imagine you are in a friend’s fine villa with many areas where you can just look out at the beautiful views, watch people walk by, or simply read a book. Thank you, Posada Las Trampas, I wish I could...

After 15 minutes a man appaered to verify the safe. Suddenly he disappaered to be back after 20 minutes: he tried to rond the key of an electronic safe ! ( that he couldn't find !). He disappaered for a second time and when he came back after half an hour he showed me a translation from Spanisch to English which said that he couldn't reach the person who had installeren the safe. Suddenly he had an idee : he came back with 4 towels form the swimming pool nearby and coverd the safe with those in order to reduce the noise: problem solved . I am suite sure that the Holly probleem was an memory battery niet the door of the safe was closed at our arrival do we coulant verify. A second problem was het water in the shower : only cold water that evening until our friends later in the evening told is there was a sort of instant heathersystem that you couldn 't barely see under the washtisch : it wasn't juist switched on (no one told us that, nowhere ajb exposanten. For ordering diner : same experience (only Espagnol, even the menu) I can understand that Spanish is a world-language but if you want as a hotel receive an international public, a minimum of Ênglish is needed. For the rest : beautiful place with nice rooms Staff is friendly but can 't ...
Read moreThis is by far one of the VERY BEST places I've ever stayed at ! The place is a 17th century palace, built on a slope, recently renovated to perfection. It's an ideal mix of history and modern comfort. The rooms are huge, with all you could ask for : comfy beds, airconditioning, plenty of hot water, a safe, bottled water,...The meals in the restaurant are delicious and the service is... well... you'll feel like royalty ! There's even a big swimming pool too cool off after a hot day. My only complaint is... I couldn't stay long enough. ...
