The place is owned by a local colombian family and located 5 minutes walk from the red part of the Tatacoa dessert. they have private rooms and campgrounds and you can also rent a hammock or a tent so you don't have to bring your own but they don't have a dorm option. the private room option is very minimal and includes a bed and 4 walls, nothing more. they have decent showers and toilets but don't expect wifi because you are going to be in the middle of dessert. they offer meals that are a little bit pricey and thry won't let you use their kitchen so if you want to save some money i will recommend to bring your own grocories from Villavieja and a camping stove before you get there and you will be fine. the hostel has a pool which can be very refreshing because the days are hot AF, even though the price is not expensive it pissed me they require extra money to use it even from their guests. they also offer tours and horse rides but they were expensive in my taste. to get to the grey part of the Tatacoa dessert which is calls "Las Ollas" I went myself walking very early in the morning, it took me about one hour and a half to get there and the hike inside the Las Ollas is very clear and easy to do on your own. to get back to the hostel I payed for a motorcycle to give me a ride because it was too freaking hot by the time I finished the hike.

Read moreExcellent location just far enough in the desert but no too far from Villavieja. Super service from the workers. When you mistake a new worker (15 days) for the owner, you know that you have excellent employees.
The birds in the morning uff. A gate leading from behind the property straight into the desert to watch the sunrise and sunset.
Excellent food at bargain prices in the restaurant.
Just go. The pool is a nice addition as well which was perfect after a hot day
FYI there is no place to charge your phone in the room. There's a place in the restaurant for charging your devices. The hotel operates from solar therefor the fan is only to be used from 7pm until the morning. Soma nights its not needed
These sunset fotos were taken from a location 5 minutes by foot behind...
Read moreThis hotel is a good option if you come to visit the desert of tatacoa. First, it will give you the possibility of resting in your room between the visit of the 2 deserts (you can't do that if you choose a hotel in Villavieja ). Then, the rooms are simple but clean, the lunches and dinners are good, there is a pool that will help you to bear the hot afternoons and most of it, the owners are super kind. One advice though, they will tell you that you can go to the grey desert with a bike that you can rent just outside the hotel, on the Main Street. I don't recommend this option, because the bikes are terrible (and quite dangerous) and you will regret it as soon as you start. To my opinion, the best option is to go walking, starting early in the morning, and try to catch a...
