Sandra, the owner, is great. You can contact her ahead of time via WhatsApp, and she keenly helps you with logistics ahead of time and helps you make your way to Tatacoa (including contacting the bus station and helping you figure out the schedule). Once you're there, she does her best to make you comfortable in her spacious, airy and clean hotel with a homey feel, as well as steers you towards the best-priced options for tours and destinations you're interested in. If you're after an affordable stay in a chill and rustic setting, this is a lovely option. Also, for an extra fee,you could have Sandra whip up a rich and varied breakfast. Really great place to stay. You are kind of sharing it with the owner, which is very nice and I felt comfortable around her. She let me use the kitchen, lent me a bike for exploring the Tatacona Desert and even provided water for drinking.

However, I have to mention the noise from the street and the chance to party along with the neighbors on the weekend. So bring your ear plugs! Other than that, the beds are...

The owner Sandra is a lovely woman! My Spanish is non-existent, but she didn’t mind at all and helped me anyway she could. I was still dealing with altitude sickness and she cared for me and made sure I was okay. The moment I felt better she arranged tours to the dessert for me.
