Hotel Central Plaza — Hotel in Itagüí

I arrived to this hotel only to discover that they couldn't locate my reservation. I used the google translate app to try and explain it to the front desk lady and it took her 20 minutes before they were able to assist me and between me waiting, them not being able to find me, and finally getting into the room; it took 1 hour.

When I finally got into my room it was clean, then I noticed there was just a fan. I asked where is the air conditioner and I was told I had to pay extra (what in the hospitality business is this?!). After switching rooms which I had to pay extra for with the AC, I then pulled down the sheet and there were long black hairs and soiled linen. I had to go to the restaurant to find housekeeping and they saw that the sheet was dirty and they changed it.

Finally, after I showered I got into bed and it was hard as a rock, I would have been better off sleeping on the floor. The pillow was plastic.

By 4:30 am I was awake. The sounds of car engines, trucks, and horns. Not to mention around 11pm the previous night there was a child running around making noise. Sigh.

If you're going to have a HOTEL where tourists stay, how come there is no English speaking channels or other languages programmed for guests of other backgrounds?

I do not EVER recommend staying here unless there is no where else to stay or a quick...

My flight was cancelled and needed a place to stay. Found this place on Expedia. Seemed simple enough. My needs for this room were not extensive. A clean and reasonably priced room for the night with an easy check in. Keep in mind that I wasn't expecting much. The room is tiny and gross. No windows...dirty fan..bed hard as a rock and cheap...stained walls. Now for check-in....my Spanish is minimal but I've never had a problem before with a simple check in...hand over my passport and credit card and say reserva...nope ..not here! Took 20 plus minutes with Google translate to convey I had a reservation. Apparently the Expedia booked rooms are in some crazy mystery computer system. Dear Expedia....make sure the hotels you advertise have a way to process your reservations. This place is horrible. I read a lot of reviews from people I suspect are just high maintenance...I am not that guy. I travel extensively around the globe and not high maintenance. Stay away...

As someone coming from the US for the first time in Medellin. I just booked this hotel because it was cheap and it was 4 star. I was wrong. Please only book this hotel if you literally just need a place to sleep. Even then, the bed was small and hard as a rock. This is honestly the worst hotel I have ever been to and I am typically generous. No way in hell is this a 4 star hotel. I don’t know who’s giving these ratings but it is a scam. I would barely give this a 1 star. The room was the smallest I had ever seen, no space at all. No AC either. The only nice lovely person was the cleaning lady who was fast and the only one who seemed like she cared about her job. The reception was not that nice… and the food and restaurant people were ok. They were not particularly friendly...
