El eden is located 25 minutes walk up hill out of Minca. Pro: great views (if you're standing up...unfortunately view from hammock is of a rusty tin roof) con: this does mean almost an hour's round trip in the pitch black if you want to venture into town for food or drink of an evening. ||We didn't find staff to be very welcoming, upon arrival we were simply asked for the money with no introduction to the accomodation or area; we were not even advised what time breakfast was served.||We were quite disappointed with our room. Minca has a LOT of mosquitos so we were disappointed to find no mosquito nets in our dorm, especially as there was a sizeable hole in the wall which appeared to be cobbled together from MDF. Please see pictures below||The hostel is also built within the nest of mincas large population of giant cricket creatures. They attach themselves to all the mesh surfaces of the room and make an ear splitting racket, as well as colonising the...
Read moreWe stayed at El Edén for three nights and loved it from the moment we arrived. The property is about 20 minutes walk up the hill from town, it has a beautiful garden and amazing views down the valley towards Santa Marta and the ocean. Our host Carmenza is the most lovely lady and really went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. ||When you arrive in Minca it’s best to get a Moto taxi or 4x4 up to the property as the walk would be tough with luggage. There’s a steep path to get up to the property from the road but it’s well worth it. The property is kept immaculate and clean. The mosquito net above the bed worked well. The breakfasts were delicious and Carmenza cooks a great dinners as well if you would like her to. There is also good internet. ||Most of all we enjoyed relaxing on the balcony in the hammocks taking in the view after we had been out exploring. ||If you’re going to come to Minca I really recommend El Eden to appreciate the...
Read moreWe booked a room for two persons in “el eden“ but when we arrived, they took us to another hostel called “hostal alto de la monaña“. They lied to us at first, they said it is the same but it was not. When we talked to the older woman of el eden, they said it is their family, what was.ment as an excuse. Because we confronted them, that it's not what we have paid for, the staff was really unfriendly since then. At the “hostal alto de la montaña“ there was not the view, which was an argument to book the hotel, the room wasn't clean, it was located next to the street, so you hear everything outside, we heard the dogs shouting because the window was not isolating. Be careful when you book el eden, that they do not replace you in...
