Short version: food is good, nice staff but don’t go there. We went there 7 years ago and it’s all downhill from there. ||Long version:||Let’s start with the good:|-we came here 7 years ago and really enjoyed our stay so we decided to come back|-staff is extremely friendly|-in house restaurant is affordable and convenient. Good simple food. Open from 7am to 10am and from 1pm to 10pm|-spacious with warm decor|-rooftop terrasse with scenic view of Medellin|-lots of areas to hang out||Now onto the bad (read terrible):|-there are “windows” in the room, but they open to the common areas or hallways|-no ac, if you combine that with the “windows”, it’s warmer in the room than in the hallway. Much, much warmer. It’s like you’re in a sauna. Which means sleep quality is terrible|-the plumbing for the showers is in dire need of repairs. The water stays warm for 5 seconds, then is extremely cold for 5 seconds, then repeat…|-Smell of mold in the toilet 👍|-one of the staff has a dog. A big dog that’s ALWAYS on site. It would be okay if the dog was nice and calm. But no! It stands in front of you when you try to pass, it barks loudly at the guests. It also sits in the communal sofas, which means that when a guest wants to sit there, he or she is greeted with dog hair and dog smell everywhere. And let’s not forget that the dog defecates on the roof terrasse and said owner doesn’t pick it up. So watch your step! Feces everywhere|-neighbourhood has gotten worse. Much worse in the past 7 years. Very rough. I wouldn’t recommend walking...
Read moreThe best part is the intimate guest-only restaurant with a special kitchen staff that make fantastic meals and make you feel welcome. I'm talking fully stuffed omelette and perfectly cooked salmon and filet mignon as well as quality alcohol. The atmosphere is friendly, quiet, artsy, and romantic. My husband and I got a private room. It has a has a king sized bed in addition to a twin sized bed, the shower has hot water, double pane windows, a fan, a TV, small dresser, work desk, and two nightstands.
I highly recommend it if you want to stay in this area, which is not the best to be honest but one thing that is worth coming here for is the parque Arvi. A short walk to the train station, then the train takes you to the cable cars. The cable cars take you to another cable car and then you go to the top of the mountains where there's about 12 unique craft stands and some food as well. The hiking trail was amazing. About light to medium exercise with relaxing atmosphere and not many other people to be seen (we went in the morning but it was busier when we left hours later). We barely speak any Spanish :( so if we can get there, you can too! The parque Explora was a fun date day as well with many little interactive things to do or look at. Don't go just for the...
Read moreThis is a super cute place inside. The staff are all lovely - very attentive and welcoming. Many speak English which is a bonus. It's great value. Our room was spacious with a huge bed and very powerful shower (hot water!) The room could get a bit stuffy as the window didn't go directly to the outside, but onto the courtyard area. It could be a bit noisy at night with other guests checking in late, but our room was the closest to reception so probably not an issue elsewhere. The communal spaces are lovely, and the roof terrace is a special feature. The food is generally very nice and it's not expensive - handy if you don't want to go out. This is not a touristy area, so there aren't really restaurants within walking distance, so bear that in mind. I wouldn't really walk around this area at night, it's a genuine experience of Medellìn with relative poverty apparent - daytime was fine and the Prado train station is just a 5...
