Hotel San Martín Popayán — Hotel in Popayán

Unfortunately, I have paid for two nights, but I don't want to stay the second night. There is neither aircon nor fan in my room, and it's hot. My minibar was not stocked with water. Only three of the six drinks on the list of mini bar contents was in the mini bar and none of them was water. I called reception three times in an hour explaining about the missing water in the mini bar, and told the receptionist that I needed water. Finally at around 10 p.m. someone appeared with the requested water. By that time it was too late. I'd needed water to brush my teeth. By the time that the water arrived in my room, I'd already got dressed again and gone downstairs to the restaurant to buy a bottle of water. ||I was surprised to find the floor by the table wet and wondered if the fridge was leaking. No, someone had left the door open (suffocating from the heat?) and housekeeping hadn't closed it. Factor in tonight's rain and the mystery of the puddle on the floor is solved. ||On the plus side, the water in the shower was strong and included hot water, so It's not a complete disaster. ||Very disappointed in this hotel. It sounded like a pretty good hotel from the reviews, but now I realise that it's bad value. Not only is it hot and airless, with a misleading list of minibar contents, but it's not close to any of the sights most people want to see when they...

We stayed at the San Martin Hotel in Popayan.||This hotel is large and has various sized rooms. The staff at the hotel were very nice and responded to all our needs. The rooms were comfortable, however many things are in need of repair. There is a saying in Colombia its great when it works. The hotel is situated a couple of kilometres from the historical centre. It is very easy to get a taxi and very easy to communicate the name of the hotel with a taxi driver to drop you off as they all know it. The hotel is well situated near supermarkets, laundry facility, plenty of restaurants and the main mall called Campenario.||There were 3 days of new year parades along the road in front of the hotel which were colorful and alot of fun. Breakfast was reasonable consisting of fruit, cereal,juice, coffee, eggs, toast,...

Have stayed at the hotel many times, and although it has many problems, it is still better than many others. I read what people say about the location, and I feel the location is very good. You are 10 minutes walk to the city center or a 4 minute cheap taxi ride.||The hotel is close to the best shopping mall in Popayan, and now has a very good restaurant on site. Parking is free, and they have always had hot water, unlike many other properties. Breakfast is blah and basic, but does a job!||Certainly not a great hotel, but much better than many in Popayan.
