We flew into Bucaramanga from Bogota and then had to take a shuttle to the toll, walk across the toll bridge with our luggage, have another bus pick us up and drop us off on a ramp, walk to find a cab, drive to the bus terminal, and then take a 3 hour bus ride (they say no stops, but they always stop) to San Gil. Looking back, I would say either bus straight from Bogota to San Gil or private transport from Bucaramanga airport to San Gil. We finally arrived at 11pm on the night of hotel reservation here. The place was gorgeous. I love the courtyard! The staff was so friendly! We were able to book a tour that night with bike junkies who picked us up the next day to ride to Juan Curie waterfall. (We

We also may have been the only people staying there so the staff and amenities were minimal. The staff was nice enough to help us order food and have it delivered when the weather was bad. For the brief time the rain stopped and the sun was out, we enjoyed the pool and the staff was very attentive with offering us drinks while we were out there. They also were great with helping us set up a white water rafting trip and giving us information on waterfall hikes (which unfortunately we were not able to do because of flooding). ||||I would not recommend the "spa" services. The massage room is dark, creepy, and definitely not clean. And, when I considered getting a pedicure, I quickly declined when I saw the bucket with the pedicure tools that they were planning on using. Yuck! I also would not recommend the restaurant. We only ate breakfast there but the food was not very appealing and the coffee was terrible. Again, they did help facilitate us ordering from restaurants so that is another option if you don't want to leave the grounds. It is up on a hill outside of town so you can't really walk anywhere but they can also help with getting a cab if you...

There is a nice looking swimming pool but it was closed most of our stay due to sun lotion making a scum on the surface. The breakfast is average and the service very slow. It is a reasonable place to stay my low rating was given as there was a problem with the toilet so that water flowed from the cistern flooding the bathroom and then the bedroom. Fortunately we were having a doze before going out. I got up to see what the noise was to wade through about an inch deep of water. If we hadn't been in all our clothes would have been soaked and our photographic and electronic equipment ruined, there isn't much in the way of places to put stuff except the floor. We were immediately moved to another room but the main concern was to check the mini bar! Not too good on...
