You have to come here with the right expectations. The location is great as it is on the northern part of the beach so you don't get a ton of people and vendors bugging you. The kitchen did serve good food and overall it was a very good value. This is not, however, an elegant resort and it is rustic to say the least. The showers are subpar, the one upstairs has no pressure at all, and if you are the first person using the ones downstairs, which had no shower head, the first spurt of water might come out brown, as it did for me. The rooms are comfortable enough, but bring bug repellant and your own towel. I wanted to give service 5 stars because the owner very kindly gave me his meal when I woke up late from a nap and every kitchen in town had closed. I would have given this place and it's service the full 5 stars, except for the fact that one of the servers, Pablo, got a little too comfortable and was throwing around names that maybe my good friends can call me in jest, but were inappropriate for and employee who doesn't know me. He was unprofessional and obnoxious, asking if we'd buy him beers during his shift, and clearly spending too much time waiting on and hitting on the cute female guest that he wouldn't stop mentioning he was in love with. The fishing trip they booked for us was also overpriced, as the local number we found in town cost about...

Barely any privacy at night due to rooms being only separated by a thin cardboard-like wall. We felt our bed shaking when our neighbours turned around in theirs. Also, despite the fact that the crew was friendly, we just didnt really feel welcome, especially at night when the crew and some locals had their drinks and parties. That made us more feel like unexpected guests at a party. Music mostly wont be turned off until 2330-0000, meaning you lay in bed with the sounds of the bar just beneath you.
Added to that, our private bathroom was a floor lower, meaning you had to get out of your room in the middle of the night to go to the toilet. The towels were not very clean. We barely write any reviews, and also normally can overcome these things, but due to the high prices, this place simply didnt meet our expectations. We wrote this to help future guests level their expectations accordingly.
As mentioned, the location of Palenque is awesome, we got help arranging a boat trip to the Islands which was awesome, and we had a very nice Jugo....
Read moreWe are travelling since 6 weeks in Colombia, but we have never ever experienced something worse like this before!
Actually to much happend to explain in detail but let‘s sum up:
• Pillow with black mold (got changed after the 3rd time we asked them to change it)
• No cleaning service for room and bath (had to ask 3 times to get the bin changed in the bath)
• The towels are dirty as hell ( sorry to say so)
• And the best of all: bed bugs - we got bitten several times. Seems like it is common there as they told us that they just had an infestation 2 months ago, when we informed them…
• The price they are asking for is leading you to expect at least a clean place as it was pretty expensive, compared to other accomodatations in Rincon.
• Asked if they could provide us with some fruits or similar for breakfast as we went diving early in the morning before the breakfast-service started. Got told that they will check it. Never came back to us nor provided something.
• Probably we have a wrong understanding of the meaning of“eco“, could not find anything sustainable there.
Staff was friendly but this does not really matter as long as all of the above mentioned is not...
