We visited Termales Santa Rosa de Cabal Hotel for one night on a road trip from Medellin. Getting to the hotel is straight forward. When you arrive in Santa Rosa de Cabal, stop at the supermarket for any necessities. Leaving town you will go down a paved road that goes to gravel after a couple of miles. It arrives at the main termales which is for day visits. The hotel is at the end of the road with secured access. They only allow visitors that have made reservations. It has its own secure and paved parking. 24/7 there are employees and maintenance abound. ||Upon arrival and parking they will assist with your baggage. Checkin is like any hotel, in the common area with the restaurant on the same floor. When we checked in, it was easy and they just asked for original identification (passport and national ID card, as well as the keys for the vehicle to identify the license plate-of course they give them back). Our room was a waterfall junior suite. It is up a couple of steps behind registration with only two rooms on the hall, very private. The bathroom is very good and nice and the room is extremely comfortable with a couch and many windows and a lot of space. I cannot stress how comfortable the bed its. It feels like home an is very private. The view is of the side of the mountain and parking lot. It is very quiet. If you are looking for a view of the hot pools, then seek the second floor older rooms in the rear of the property. It was spotless.||They give you one towel per person. You exchange the towel as many times as you want on the second floor up from reception in the rear on the way to the main three pools. The hotel has a bar and food outside as well by the large pool. Drinks are strong and worth the price.||For the food, there have been some bad comments. We did not have one bad meal the entire time we were there.||There is one detached building across the car park that has rooms and its own pool if you want more privacy. We used that pool the last day and there were very few people.||When you check out, you pay the incidentals by credit card or pesos. When leaving the guard communicates with reception to clear your exit like entry. The gate opens inwards manually so don't park to close. Keep your wrist band on as it gives you access to the public area with the views you may have seen online for photos. It is a nice walk uphill, so if you are mobility challenged, do not try it.||One thing from before the visit is the number of questions I had about the hotel and its proximity to the termales you see online. The hotel complex is distinct and removed from the public ones by approximately 1/4 mile, with no connection. The hotel is distinct in itself and provides and a great retreat with good amenities for you to enjoy and relax. Neither of us had any complaints and we really enjoyed our time!||The room has a safe to secure your belongings but with the number of staff present and the high quality of guests, you can just go and enjoy the hotel property without worrying about anything. We did not do the "American plan", but I would when I return since it would be all inclusive and prices and drinks and food are what you would expect at a nice hotel. Everything you do while on property is paid by wrist band to your account which you settle on departure.||One last note, if you are driving from Medellin, it is easy. Just take plenty of pesos for the tolls, as it amounted to about 40 USD round trip. You will also want coins for the fractions of the tolls. When you are coming or going, visit La Pintada for lunch, but do not take that road over the mountain if you are on a schedule. The one that Waze recommended we took back and skipped the mountain pass and La Pintada as it was like a turnpike. It has a mandatory checkpoint for commercial motor vehicles, so there were none on it. But, if you want the best experience take the first going, and the second coming back to Medellin.||We stopped in Manizales at Termales de Otono on the way back, which I definitely recommend, which is a different review. ||I do not recommend one over the other as they are equally beautiful.||Go to Termales Santa Rosa de Cabal. Drive. Plan on spending at least 3 days but book in advance. We would have stayed longer but they were booked up. It was THAT relaxing and comfortable! You are in Colombia. Enjoy the food, culture, people, and...
Read moreWarning !! Avoid !||High prices at|This hotel would seem to indicate you’ll have high service. Very poor experience !||1. You will wear a wrist band the entire time you stay here. At one point 3 “guards “ were watching the pool. We were chastised by a guard bc we didn’t have our band. ||2. We couldn’t|Leave the room and go to the thermal bath bc the safe didn’t work. It took 85 minutes and 3 visits to fix the safe. She brought us a “master safe key “, or something like that in case it still didn’t work. So our safe is still not secure bc there’s a key hidden. ||3. Keys to your rooms are not secure. They have your room number taped on the plastic card!! So lose your key and guaranteed they will charge you for the plastic taped card. We attempted to put ourstuff (with our room key with the taped room number on it ) on a chair nearer the pool|So we could keep an eye on it. You guessed it. A pool guard chastised us and moved the chair and our stuff, telling us we had done something wrong. ||4. Only a few speak English. We’ve traveled to 37 countries. We’re not obnoxious people. But expecting English speakers in a proclaimed 4 star hotel is reasonable. ||5. The room was very stuffy. No air flow at all. Opening the window meant you’d have all Gods jungle creatures in your room. We complained and asked for a fan. They said don’t provide that service. What the hell…service ?? So they came and drilled 3 holes in the wall and mounted a fan on the wall which then plugged into the wall. They did say we could move to a room with a/c. That of course would’ve wasted lots of time. ||6. We told them to cancel our (2) , 60 min massages. Honestly if they couldn’t get a safe and a plastic key right , I had little hope for their massages. Their resolution , after going back and forth , was to Offer us 2 free massages, But only for 30 minutes. ||7. They went through a lot of work to have a Spanish /English menu. What they didn’t do was make sure that the two matched eachother. Such as : one English description stating 300g and the Spanish translation stating 400g. That’s a big difference. Very very poorly and unprofessionally run business. ||Summary, harassment by security guards , poor antiquated procedures , keys which if lost will put all your valuables at risk , and some parts of your room not working , in addition to many/most not speaking even business English ….this place was a big...
Read moreRelaxing stay at termales hotel. £58 english pounds for one night including breakfast through booking.com. When purchasing one night it includes two passes for the hotels own private pools access for day 1 check in and day 2 of check out until 11.30 pm. To get here from pereira take a local bus for 2,500 cop to santa rosa. Suggest eating at Creta Fast & Parilla. You can then either take a bus which leaves every hour from the main square for 2500 cop or a taxi which costs 24000 cop and takes 30 minutes up a windy and beautiful mountain road. Check in at 3pm we had a beautiful room with a really comfy bed and super powerful hot shower. Was a bit cold so top tip ask for a heater you will thank me later! The breakfast was colombian arepa eggs fruit coffee.. was ok. The dinner however was really nice! Fresh trout and pasta primavere delicious had it twice! Service is great whole place is clean and good attention from waiters. Ok now the pools! So relaxing! Theres three pools, the main one has three water temps and a seperate cold waterfall which is like an ice bath/plunge pool. You can order drinks from the pool which is cool and they had fresh maracuya juice which was nice. Would recommend coming with people as by yourself I imagine it would get quite boring! But my partner and I used all the pools and went for a short walk to the beautiful waterfall which is in the hotel grounds. We did this both days even after checking out. Now questions I had I wish I knew about earlier: Yes you can use the spa both days even if staying only one night This hotel is completely private and is very luxurious. The public termales santa rosa is 20 mins walking down the hill- costs 35000 cop per person and is not included in the entry to the hotel. In my opinion it wasnt necessary to go because its way more relaxing at the hotel! One night is more than enough! 24 hours is perfect! We left feeling relaxed and refreshed! Our taxi driver told us san vicente is also good but all the reviews say the food is bad. After check out on 2nd day you can put baggage behind reception and its very common to do this. There are then changing rooms to use for after using the spa. These changing rooms are nice but.. no hot water.. whyyyyy??!!!!
Its expensive but compared to europe for 2 days natural thermal spa its worth...
