The hostel is clean, reasonably basic but with fully functioning facilities including hot water. The beds are comfortable and reasonably priced, and there is a lovely outdoor area for socialising and wstching the hummingbirds. The location is perfect for accessing Las Termales of Santa Rosa and San Vicente - in my opinion an essential stop on any itinerary around Colombia. Santa Rose de Cabal itself is a working Colombian town - not particularly pretty, but full of very welcoming and friendly people.|But, the thing that makes this hostel special for me is the people that work here. Andrés, Erika and the volunteers (when I was there it was Jaime and Fernando). I planned to stay only 2 nights, and ended up staying over a week because they were so welcoming. I was genuinely made to feel like family - the helped me hugely with my Spanish, showed me around local beauty spots including hiking to waterfalls, showed me the best places to eat in town. I was invited to join them at the cinema, we went on days out to nearby towns. I really did have an excellent time. I have stayed in supposedly "nicer" hostels, but the hospitality at this place is the best I have experienced in Colombia and maybe anywhere....
Read moreAbsolutely loved my stay at Kimaná Hostal. The staff were incredibly helpful, sweet, caring, and communicative. The staff go above and beyond to make your stay extraordinary. Not only were we greeted by everyone working/volunteering here but also hung out with them and became friends. We were given lots of advice on places to visit, places to eat, and place to drink. They even went out of their way to walk us over to restaurants or bus stops to help us out. They made sure to give us food before heading out on an early morning and answered our calls despite how early it was. The hospitality has been the best I've every received in any place I've stayed. The place is also very cute and walkable to anywhere within the town. We extended our stay 2 more nights because it's been an...
Read moreThe hostel is like a green island in the middle of the town. Clean, well equipped, reasonably priced, nice common areas with a lot of flowers, not noisy and last but not least really nice staff. If you want to go to the thermals the can make a reservation for you (which I recommend as I was not able to pay with my European credit card). Just in our room there were no windows but it was ok as we did not spent a lot of time in the room itself. You can buy a breakfast, which was also really good. And there is filtered water. Kitchen well equipped. We were generally...
