Hotel Cogollo Barichara — Hotel in Santander

Located almost a 10 minute walk up the hill away from the main plaza, the open setup is filled with gardens and trees and is quite beautiful. The small spa pool is great to cool off in and the room is comfortable and nicely decorated and the staff are incredibly friendly. Loved our outdoor shower.||Oddly the doors on the rooms don't lock or even have proper closing mechanisms, so if another guest wants to go through your things while you're out, there's nothing stopping them. This can be a bit concerning.||Breakfast is good - a spread of eggs, juice, coffee or chocolate, jam, arepa and not the best quality white bread.||Anyone that requires even half decent wifi may want to book elsewhere as the network strength here quite appalling. Constant drop-outs and as soon as it starts to rain, there's no service at all. The hotel ought to pay for a better plan or simply not have wifi at all.||The only other issue is the communal lounge located upstairs at the top of the property. Whilst it's a beautiful spot with an open design that overlooks the town, guests use it until very late - yelling, playing loud music which can all be heard in the rooms just metres away. ||Management needs to address this and perhaps put a curfew on its usage so that other guests can sleep in peace. Being kept awake until midnight on one night and then 1.30am on another...

This is the type of place that has so much potential but is either not properly managed or doesn't have enough funds for maintenance. ||We were supposed to stay 2 nights but left after the first one. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, there were spiders everywhere, and it just generally didn't feel like more than a backpacker, although it's supposed to be a hotel. The bathroom smelt really bad, but was clean and the shower had hot water but just looked like it was going to fall apart. ||The setting is really pretty, but with so much vegetation it requires a ton of maintenance to keep bugs out and such, which isn't happening at the moment. The included breakfast was extremely sad, even if served by a very lovely lady. You have to pay extra for eggs, etc, which I would have rather had included in the price. ||It's also a really steep walk up the hill from the main square, but you don't get a view from the hotel, so it's not really worth the effort. ||Overall, considering how many lovely hotels there are in and around barichara, there is no reason to stay here. Na een lange reis, eindelijk in Barichara aangekomen bleek het hotel niet te zijn wat we dachten. De douches en het toilet zijn in de buitenlucht waar mensen vanuit een balkon naar je kunnen kijken. De locatie is redelijk; om er te komen moet je aardig omhoog lopen of de tuctuc nemen; het hote zelf is wel schattig. Maar Gezien de prijs en het gebrek aan privacy, vond ik dat erg tegen vallen en niet aan de informatie voldoen. Toen ik dit eenmaal aangaf en ik best wat wilde betallen, maar niet een hele nacht als een No-show (want ik was er en vond het hotel niet zijn wat het zichzelf beschreef), werd het een heen en weer geapp met het kantoor van het hotel. De gastvrouw zelf was vriendelijk en probeerde de eigenaren/manager zelf te pakken te krijgen maar zij werd ook niet echt ondersteund. Na enkele keren zelf proberen te bellen en te vragen of ik aub gebeld kon worden, werd ik opgehangen. Ik had nog niets betaald en ik wilde het netjes afhandelen met ze. Als oplossing kreeg ik een gratis nacht boven de 2 gereserveerde nachten. Want dat is volgens hun de oplossing als je ergens niet wilt overnachten. Zij hadden het over de autoriteiten en het recht dat zij hebben, ik probeerde uit te leggen wat klantvriendelijkheid is. Uiteindelijk om er voor te zorgen dat de gastvrouw niet in de problemen zou komen , heb ik de no-show boete betaald. Om de middag nog completer te maken stuurden ze vanuit Het kantoor (2 uur rijden van het hotel), de politie op ons af. Ik ben boos geworden maar ik ben altijd normaal gebleven. En ja ik gaf misschien enkele keren aan dat ik me genaaid voelde door het bedrijf en dat ik vond dat ze stelden. Dat was blijkbaar aanleiding om de politie op ons af te sturen. De gastvrouw was zo vriendelijk om ze weg te sturen omdat ze wist dat ik het geld had betaald en ik alleen nog graag met iemand van het kantoor in gesprek wilde. Uiteindelijk een ander leuker hotel gevonden dichter bij het hoofdplein. Met een ongelofelijk leuke eigenaar!!. Na een week kreeg ik nog geen belletje of bericht van dit bedrijf. Toen ben ik zelf maar achter ze aan gegaan. Tot mijn verbazing kregen wij de schuld. Wij waren onbeschoft want er waren beelden en geluidopnames (ik had elk moment weg kunnen lopen, zonder te betalen; ik wilde het netjes afhandelen).||Het is erg makkelijk de schuld bij de klanten neer te leggen. Klantvriendelijkheid is iets wat de managers/eigenaren nog moeten leren.||Indien je met minder privacy naar het toilet wilt en wilt douchen is dit een leuk hotel. Echter zijn er dichter bij het hoofdplein meerdere goedkopere hotels met eigenaren die het begrip...
