My partner and I stayed at Eden Tica Lodge for four nights during a tour of Costa Rica. We wanted to visit the Uvita area because of Corcovado National Park, SCUBA diving at cano island and Bahia Bellena bay (with the whale tail-shaped beach and the migrating humback whales). ||||Our hosts, Luis and Jessica were extremely welcoming and very helpful throughout our stay. The accommodation itself is two very modern bungalows set next to their home. The location is set away from the principle road up a hill-trail, we love walking/hiking so we welcomed the up-hill walk everyday, it took us about 20 minutes to reach the principles roach going down (about 40 minutes casually going back up). If you dont like walking or prefer not to walk up hills then you should consider hiring a car, or looking at accommodation nearer the principle road or more centrally in Uvita. ||||Our bungalow was clean and facilities were comfortable, including a very comfortable large bed, a kitchenette with a double hob and microwave and coffee machine, and a spacious bathroom area. ||||The real highlights of this accommodation are its setting within the hills, which means you are situated right in the heart of so much beautiful nature, meanwhile Luis and Jessica's design and maintenance of their surrounding gardens/pool area mean that you get the most of all the views. We saw monkeys playing in nearby trees and a tucan perched on the tree above us! The other highlight was the lovely breakfast Luis brought us each morning which consisted of fresh fruit (delicious!) tea/coffee/orange juice, toast with ham and preserves. ||||Above all Luis and Jessica were very accommodating to help us with our requests and our itinerary, for example we had an early morning excursion one day, so Luis packed our breakfast for us the night before. The only reason I cannot awarded this accommodation 5 stars was because a couple of very minor things around the bungalow were not fully up to the host's own high standards (I expect because we visited during their low season) for example one of the electric hobs was not functioning. ||||Jessica and Luis live with two gorgeous, extremely well-behaved dogs, who we were smitten with by the time we left. They would both sit on our porch in the evening enjoying receiving some fuss and cuddles. If you have allergies or prefer not to interact with dogs then I recommend you email the hosts before you arrive because they will keep them in...
Read moreMy husband and I spent 4 nights at the lodge and we just loved our stay there. The lodge is situated at the end of a dirt road (which is easy enough to drive), surrounded by rainforest. "Our" bungalow was spacious and clean, with a little kitchen and the biggest, most comfortable bed imaginable. There's a huge terrace facing the forest, an infinity pool from which you can see the forest and the ocean, and next to the pool breakfast is served. Apropos breakfast - this was lovingly prepared with a lot of fruit, including some native fruits to sample. The owners of the lodge were very helpful - more than that: our host pointed out some interesting wildlife to us on several occasions (including a group of howler monkeys, which sometimes come quite close).||We had come to Costa Rica mainly for birdwatching, and for this the lodge is an ideal place - just sit on your verandah for a couple of hours, and you will see a variety of fascinating birds visiting the trees nearby.||There are also lots of interesting places and activities within easy reach - so really this is the perfect place to stay,...
Read moreAmazing location and experience. Set right up in the rain forest, we were able to see macaws, toucans, a sloth, an agouti, a coati, iguanas, monkeys and about 50 other birds (the merlin app helped identify them) - all without even having to leave the apartment! The apartment itself had a lovely ample verandah which was fully covered so that even when it rained (we went in rainy season) we could sit out and read/do yoga/watch nature. Inside was a little tired, a little damp and not 100% clean under beds and in corners etc. The infinity pool was refreshing and had a beautiful outlook. The toucans ate from the tree above whilst we were cooling off. Our hosts were there to answer all our questions about the apartment. You definitely need a...
