Tucked away up a dirt track, this Ecolodge is set in the most beautiful, peaceful surroundings. The owners have devoted 12 years to creating an oasis of calm just a 15 minute drive from the beach and whale watching options at Uvita. The garden flowers attract butterflies and birds. Grass is kept short to keep the snakes at bay and the pool is very welcome. Watch out for the iguanas passing through! Fans in the rooms are adequate. There’s a fridge and coffee/tea making facilities so we were able to bring food from Uvita for lunch etc. There is no restaurant on site so if you don’t fancy the drive into town ask to be booked in to Manoas lodge, 10 mins walk up the track where a couple of friendly chefs will cook a 3 course very acceptable evening meal for 20$. Take a torch! You do need a 4wheel drive to get here and beware of local GPS giving wrong directions. Google maps...
Read moreI think it needs to be mentioned that the lodge is very far from the beaches and the main street. It is in the middle of nowhere (which some might like, but it was a bit too far off for us) and the street to get there ruined one of our tire. If you don't have an outdoor car, do not go there. The street is one of the worst we have seen in our round trip from the north to the south of CR.||||There is no WiFi in the cabines and bad WiFi it the "breakfast room". We could not plan any trips with the WiFi. ||||Yes, the garden is nice but it is someones garden in which you are staying. This might not be everyones thing. We had a bit of a mixed feeling to stay in an expats garden instead of supporting the local establishments more close to the beach.||||The rooms are standard with no AC and no shower gel or soap in...
Read moreLa Cacatúa is a beautiful and heartfelt B & B tucked in the lush jungle hills just above Uvita. From the moment I was welcomed into the open air common area by the owners themselves, it was obvious that they had designed this peaceful oasis with the utmost respect for the mountain flora, fauna and vistas. They've also cultivated a spectacular garden and many of those fresh ingredients find their way into the tasty included breakfast. I want to post photos but I don't think they do the place justice. As far as I'm concerned, this is a hidden Bahia Ballena gem: Comfy private cabinas + Great hosts + Secluded stunning location + Homemade food with...
