Cuna del Ángel is one of the hotel most difficult to make an objective reviewed. The place was built w lots of love, beautiful china, rooms w angels name, cuisine w a specific purposed, all dishes are gluten free and excellent executed. Now things that should be taken in consideration when booking, you need a car to truly enjoy the area. BUT if you don't there is nothing in the fridge or room to snack this includes water. Cuna del Ángel is located between two small towns about ten kilometers away and taxis charge from $10 to $12 dollars each way. I have visited other hotels in the same situation but they provide free schedule shuttles to the closest attractions. Service was excellent at the restaurant, Mikel Alvin and Jonathan made us feel as family. On the other hand only one of the reception personal made as feel as not wanted. One time we asked for a taxi to visit Uvitas and gave her the name of the person who has driven as us from San Jose a long drive since CR was in a strike. Her answer was if you going to Uvitas you have to take a taxi from Uvitas the driver being from Dominical we had to pay the fare from Dominical then the fare to Uvitas. I have traveled around the world and never knew were the taxi driver lived. I do know the name of the person but I decided just to mention those that make this place stand out. Their handycap facilities needs improvement w no elevator and the hotel located in different levels makes a difficult to stay if the person is bound to a wheelchair. Now photos from the beautiful hotel.

We visited end of March 2025 for a week and found the hotel to be spotlessly clean, and the staff wonderful. Special thanks go to Juan Carlos and Nicole at the front desk for arranging transportation and booking our day trips, but the real draw for us, as my wife has celiac disease, was the restaurant. Chef Guillermo created delicious dishes that were a feast for the eyes as well as the palate, and Bernardo and Oscar served us with skill and professionalism. By the end of our stay it was clear we had become friends, and we look forward to visiting again someday. We’d also like to thank Aaron, Carlos and Erika in the dining room, and Yariela in the office. The owners have assembled a winning team, thank you to all, including the people who took care of us behind the scenes that we never saw. We had a quiet and relaxing week, and saw plenty of birds, monkeys, and other wildlife both on the resort and walking down a nearby lane. Visited nearby Hacienda Baru (10min drive) and Ballena NP (15min drive) and Enrique guided us to Santa Lucia waterfalls (30min drive) Pura Vida!

A real hidden gem. Super friendly and accommodating staff, great location close to Playa Dominical without being steeped in the busy tourist area. Note that this resort does not have beach access, however it does have a nice pool and the forest cabinas have an amazing view of the jungle canopy from the balconies. The whole facility is 100% gluten free, making it the perfect base camp for celiac and gluten free travelers. A special shout-out to Andrés for being particularly helpful with tips for things to see and do in the area as well as being a fantastic server in the restaurant. The restaurant can be busy for supper so be sure to make a reservation if you can!

What a wonderful stay! We will be back! |The hotel is beautiful and clean with AC and comfortable beds. We stayed in the Deluxe rooms which I would recommend as they look to the ocean and over the pool.|We were treated like royalty!|Bernardo was our main guy the entire time we were there. He always exceeded our needs and completely satisfied our every whim. His suggestions on wine and food were excellent. He was professional, personable and really made our stay super special! Don't ever leave, Bernardo! We are coming back to visit you! :) |His son, Aaron, was great as well and was personable, friendly and made yummy cocktails.|Andres took care of us daily in the open air restaurant and bar. He anticipated our needs, met them with professionalism and friendly conversation as well.|Juan Carlos, at the front desk, responded online quickly to all my concerns while booking and then when I made changes to the booking, he assured me all was well. We didn't arrive from San Jose Airport until midnight, and he arranged for our late arrival flawlessly. His friendly face and smile greeted us every morning. |The food at the hotel is superb. The chef created delicious and beautiful food from Breakfast to Dinner and beyond. We started the day with a beautiful plate of fruit that was fresh and sweet and unlike that I get back home in the US. Fresh orange juice and delicious omelets or scrambled eggs each morning. I wondered if the gluten free bread would be tasty, and it was some of the best bread I've had. There were other choices on the breakfast menu that I could have had, but didn't stray from the egg dishes. |The ladies who served us in the restaurant were very nice and I'm sorry I don't remember their names. The same for the housekeeping ladies who left us specially tied towels each day with flowers on top. |My friends and I have already talked about our next trip to CR and Hotel Cuna Del Angel. Next time, we will take advantage of the spa treatments and the jacuzzi. We did...

It’s very rare for me to write a not good recommendation but unfortunately this is the situation. |I will start with the good things first:||This is a beautiful hotel. The swimming pool is amazing and their lobby is so welcoming, we enjoyed sitting and just reading there. |The lady during the check-in was very kind and helpful with a wonderful welcoming attitude.||But and there is a big but I will not recommend this hotel:||First of all it’s right next to the highway.. we stayed in room F and the noise was intolerable during all night.||We had 2 problems that the staff didn’t know how to handle:||1. We had a huge spider or crab inside our A/C. We called the front desk and then the technician that tried to find it but didn’t manage to do so and we had lots of noises during the whole night.||2. Around 23:00 the smoke detector started to make noises. We called the reception and no one answered. After 5 minutes we went there and found only the guard who didn’t know what to do (and didn’t understand a single word in English). He tried to call the hotel team and when he reached them after 10 extra minutes he just kept asking if we smoke in the room or if we used the hairdryer.. (we’re not smokers and off course we didn’t use the hairdryer). Finally the smoke detector stopped by itself. ||This situations can happen sometimes, the main problem was the way they handle it or didn’t handle it ||This is not the quality of service that we use to get and especially not in hotel like this, for us it was a real...
