W♡W - incredible experience at Resturante Scala! The food, service, and location were all A++++++. Location was beautiful, in the jungle with a nice view of nature and the ocean. Beautiful (breathtaking views) both indoor with floor to ceiling windows as well as outdoors with bar areas, and they have live music some days. VERY nice ambiance - we stayed a few hours longer than expected because we were having such a nice time. New, modern, simple, yet so elegant and enjoyable.

Service was EXCELLENT! Juan Pablo took our reservation and welcomed us personally upon entry. He was very kind, compassionate, was always a step ahead and very attentive. He made the experience magical for us ✨️ He was fantastic and made it special for us. We enjoyed it so much that he brought the manager Gustavo and chef Antonio to our table to meet us, which made it very personable and felt like home. Really great people.

Food was WOW - family and I could not stop talking about the food and experience all night. It's better than any Michelin Star rated restaurant we have been to with a burst of unique and fresh flavors. Everything we ordered on the menu was one-of-a-kind and delicious -- like nothing like we have tried before. It was an unforgettable experience with good portions, prices, and presentation!

Overall, we are so happy to find this gem. It was a highlight of our trip and the personalization of the experience with us along with the great service, unique food, and beautiful presentation were unforgettable.

We are coming back again before we leave town and will definitely be back next trip to Dominical. New favorite restaurant for us - can't stop talking about Scala! MUST VISIT!!

Thank you Juan Pablo, Chef Antonio, and manager Gustavo for making our night and giving us an experience to remember!

PS. Great place to celebrate a birthday - they really make you...

It took me a second to write this review, but I needed to wait until I returned home and could really savor the taste that is Scala. My party of four went to Scala 3 separate times, and I went once more by myself to see how it would compare for the solo traveler. Scala is accommodating to all. The ambience alone is amazing, extremely elegant yet reserved with modern touches. All windows and lights were open & on at night, yet for some reason there was not a single bug in the place….and for those reading and have not been to Costa Rica, then that is a massive accomplishment. On top of being bug free, the staff makes the place spotless. I sat in front of the kitchen / bar when I was by myself, and they kept things running very smoothly. When I said accommodating I meant it. My group requested a private room just to see if they could do it, and without questions asked, they put us in a private room and took care of us the whole time. Diego the bartender is a fan favorite for sure. Although I didn’t speak much with him, I could see the impact he has when everyone says goodbye as they leave their tables. Management was so friendly. I went with whatever he would recommend and that took care of me the whole night. I do not like Margaritas, but I did like Scala’s. After my dinner, which was great, they served me homemade chocolate cake, and this cute chef even cut me a rose out of a strawberry to top it off.I do not recommend getting the pizzas, and not because they are bad, but because everything else I think is superior to the already good pizzas’ but of course that is personal preference. If you are in the area, or even close by, then you owe it to yourself to try out this amazing restaurant at least one day or night of your trip. We had everything on the menu, and I will post my...

Our family of four ate here 2 years ago and it was one of the best meals we have ever had. The steak was flavorfull and perfectly cooked. My kids hamburgers were amazing. This time was the opposite. My tenderloin was raw. I ordered it medium rare, but it was basically tartare. No seasoning on it and a very sweet mushroom sauce over the top. I had it sent back and it came back 2 minutes later the exact same way. It felt like they literally just replated it. I gave up at this point and just said it was fine and ate the veggies. My kids ordered their hamburgers medium and these were very red. We cut the burgers in half and the buns flaked apart since they weren't fresh. My wife's vegetarian dish was fine, but not worth the price. The main server felt bad and offered fish or something else. I had lost my appetite. They brought us 2 fancy looking pieces of cake to try and remedy the situation. This was a nice gesture, but the cake was awful. Dense flourless type that was super dry and aside from the dollop of buttercream on the top, was not edible. We also asked if it had nuts as our kids both have nut allergies. We were told no and then I ate a chocolate covered almond. Luckily we were hesitant already and neither had any. The main server was very kind and felt bad about the meal. They offered 5% off the bill. I would judge that as insufficent. The one item that was great, albeit expensive, was the drinks. Hopefully this was just an off day with a new cook. Too many other great restaurants in the area to risk going again while on this...

Lots of friends recommended us Scala and so we decided to give it a try. On arrival Gustavo greeted us and took us to our table, we arrived earlier so we had some coffee and ordered some entrees. Coffee was delicious, Ramen was SPECTACULAR and the small entree was some mix of sea food and a sauce they use for other dishes (ask the chef lol). One of us ordered lemon and pecan pie, both were soo good, she only had that Our friend ordered pork as main course and it was a good portion and flavor was on point, my husband's Risotto, shrimp and octopus, was good, my Shrimp Risotto I loved it, it was more tasty than my husband's but both reaaally good. Sorry the Risotto pic is missing, there was a power outage so we had to eat with candle light. For dessert I ordered a passion fruit cheesecake, it was lacking the passion fruit flavor, but it was ok, my husband and friend ordered the Brownie but to be honest it was dissapointing, ee've had better Brownies. The waiters Hernán and Gustavo were really friendly, always taking care of our table and the Chef Marlon, he is amazing. Thanks Scala for this experience and of course we'll come back!
