Hotel Roca Verde — Hotel in Bahía Ballena

This is easily the best hotel in Dominical and dare I say all of Costa Rica. It is absolutely stunning. Time truly stands still here, the air is pure, and you will never see so many stars dancing with each other in the sky at night. The rooms are simple and comfy, the bar and restaurant is delicious and unique, and the beach is magical. The pool is clean, large, and lots of fun! I have spent hours just walking the beach collecting shells. I feel like I am in heaven when I'm here. We took a beach walk down to the town of Dominicalito where there are fabulous local restaurants, authentic Costa Rican food, craft beers, a vegan friendly market, yoga, and the best part - locals selling handmade goods along the beach. Don't forget to get an oceanside beach massage and swim in the local waterfall: Poza Azul. Roca Verde is the ideal spot for the best vacation, no matter the occasion. We stayed at the Hotel Roca Verde with our family of 7 for 5 nights. It was so peaceful, beautiful, and calm. Mike made us feel very safe, and Juan was a wonderful concierge. The food was amazing, and we felt like part of their family. Hotel Roca Verde is situated on the most beautiful little beach that feels private even though it technically isn't. It is a lovely 10 beach walk to town, or a 1 min car ride. Hotel Roca Verde took care of our every need while also giving us space. The rooms were clean and everything was well taken care of. There are cats and dogs that roam the property, which all our kids loved and made us feel even more at home. I stayed here for the majority of the 2 months I was in Costa Rica. The hospitality is great, they had the best food I experienced in Dominical, the rooms all had hot running water, ice cold remote controlled AC, & you didn’t have to throw toilet paper in the trash can; what more could you ask for! The owner’s a really cool guy and was very helpful in telling us about local secret spots, where we could find local farmers markets, booking excursions, etc

It’s close to the jungle and right on the best beach in the area. Close to town but you don’t have to hear club music on the weekends when you’re trying to sleep. There will be mosquitoes - it’s a rainforest so be prepared!
