Even with 3rd world standards, this place, at it's current state and management, isn't worth the cost of a bed. If you book online you pay $14USD+30%, if you show up it's $10. The plus 30% is not normal, and that's what the extra $4 should be for. I came with someone else and was told I was sold 2 beds, but found out they'd double sold one of the beds. Asked for a refund for one of the beds, but then it changed to "you were sold for 2 people". Went to the bathroom after, and the hook to keep the door open broke off. Then there's the bed themselves. The sheets are a high synthetic content, so it feels like sleeping in a hot plastic bag. The beds are so creaky it's hard to sleep at night. The creaking problem, and the hidden fees for online booking was a complaint of many guests. The mosquito nets are poorly installed, and not maintained for holes. No walls, only tapestries. So you can hear every guest scuffing their sandals. Construction starts before most guests wanted to wake up. Basically, as of Feb 2018, this is just a business that made a good web presence that wants you to pay, sleep, and leave. The guests still tried to have good interactions, but it's not geared towards enjoyment, only necessity, with a few things like murals in the bathrooms and flowering vines to make it seem nicer. There's constant construction going on right now so maybe it'll get better. But for now, definitely don't book online, and try other places first. I'd rather camp...
Read moreIt is a classy surf hostel and you get what you pay for, however, it is very warm, a lot of insects, and unclean. What made my experience very bad was that I left my bag with my wallet in my room for 1 minute while going to fill my bottle in the kitchen, and the purse was stolen when I got back. We never accused anyone from the hostel, and understand that you should never leave things unattended, but when I asked the person I charge that day, Massimo, if he had seen anything, he got extremely mad with me and said that I only wanted to fraud him and accuse him. It was very uncomfortable considering we kindly asked if he had seen it. It was unsettling to not know where you personal items are, especially on a travel. Later we found the purse in some garbage cans outside the hostel, where my wallet was gone. The owner just laughed when we told him that we found it and said it was all just a silly misunderstanding although the purse was stolen and the wallet was gone. Later we also found out that he had talked about me and the situation in a very bad way to another guest that we became friends with. This is not a bad review because the purse got stolen there, because anyone could just walk in, and I should not have left it alone even for one minute, but it is a bad review because of the way we were met and treated by the staff in a...
Read moreThe people here are so kind and layed back we could have stayed at this hostel for weeks. Owner is a Spanish surfer guy who is so friendly and chill. The location is perfect, next to the beach close to everything in town. They rent surfboards at a very reasonable price and offer dorms and private rooms, although when we were there we had a whole dorm to ourselves. Other guests were given their own dorm rooms as well, so I like how they dont pack one room at a time. Great showers and toilets and the kitchens are great too! Dorms are not sealed off so you will sleep in a bug net. Wifi is amazing and the second floor hang out spot is very big and overlooks the beach. The main entry area is really coming along and I'm excited to come back here again and see the progress. My favorite hostel I stayed at...
