We stayed at Tropical Sands for a month. Booked for 1 week and then just could not leave! The location is amazing-just 1 min walk to the beach so we could have our coffee in the morning next to the ocean and watch the spectacular sunset in the afternoon. Our room was big and clean and had 2 double beds, fan and AC. The water in the shower was always hot and always had good pressure. The WiFi is strong and never failed us (we both work remotly when we travel) plus we had a great working area next to reception which allowed us to be super productive. The shared kitchen is a huge bonus (for us at list) as we like to cook our own meals most of the time. The kitchen was well equiped and even if something was missing, Amy would just go and get that the next day or two- how amazing is that? Amy and Ken, the owners, are just great and we got to know them and spend some time together. It really shows how much they care and the efort they put in to provide a great experience to each guest taking the time and sharing their recomendations about the local activities, restaurants, supermarkts etc... It is really easy to sense instantly that you are in a good place that offers you value for your money an run by decent people. I would also like to point out the cleanning lady Eloise who is very very kind and does an amazing job. We are so greatful for the time we spent at Tropical sands and cannot wait to...

Tropical Sands Dominical is a great no frills hotel. A friend and I stayed in one of the non-air-conditioned rooms, which was small but clean and tidy. Even though it can be quite hot in Dominical during the day, the room cooled down just fine at night. The bathrooms are well appointed, though bath soap was not provided (it may have been available on request - I brought my own). There is a safe in each room and a sturdy gate protecting the property. The grounds are beautiful - we were visited by chestnut mandibled toucans and scarlet macaws and there was a pair of black hawks living in the beautiful guanacaste tree overhanging the courtyard. There are also a couple of adorable cats and a friendly dog living at the inn. The owner was away for most of our visit, but she seemed very welcoming and competent, and Betsy, the woman watching the inn in the owner's absence, was wonderful. Tropical Sands is ideally located a stone's throw from the beach but a little bit away from the center of town. Cafe Ensueño across the street is a fantastic place for an inexpensive and filling meal or a...

I stayed here in January and loved my stay. Great tucked away peaceful location, yet so close to the beach and such an easy walk to Dominical town. I found it to be great value, just for the location alone! The staff was great. From all over with interesting stories. They were happy to guide me with all local questions. They even helped me get signed up on an adventure ocean tour leaving from Uvita(helped with taxi contact info) Once or twice I also got to meet the owners who you very welcoming and available to help if I needed anything.

I just felt the laid back Dominical vibe from the very beginning during my week there. I opted for the AC room which was quite comfortable but the cabin rooms seems like they can do the job as well. I relaxed every day in the hammock. The sounds of the birds and even hearing the waves crashing. The two cats, Dexter and Vince napping and enjoying the Pura Vida life.

I was able to do some cooking and I walked to town to try a bunch of the offerings Dominical has in town. I hope to come back one day.

Thank you, gracias and...

We’ve stayed all over Dominical, and this is the best place for us, hands down. It’s quiet, private, and safe. Dominical is small, so everything is within easy walking distance from the hotel. The hotel has a communal kitchen that has everything you would need to make food and brew your morning coffee. The common area in the center courtyard is very inviting, there are several seating options and hammocks to choose from if you’re doing a bit of relaxing. The ceiling fans keep the mosquitoes and other bugs at bay. The rooms are cozy and welcoming. The hot water works great in the showers and the beds are comfy. The owners are always happy to see you arrive and their employee always remembers us and is super nice. Most other hotels in town have too much of a party vibe, you’re kept up by the drunks at the pool or the loud music coming from the bar. Most of these “party hotels” are much more expensive than Tropical Sands. Also, we have no desire to stay in a hostel full of hormonal, stinky surfers. Hotel Tropical Sands is the only place we’ll stay in Dominical.

First, the hotel is very well located. The beach is at 2 minutes on foot, the best buck for money restaurant in town is the neighbor, the only laundry is also the neighbor and it is a calm place. Second, the manager and her husband (owners) are so welcoming! She speaks Spanish, English and French so there is no problem of comprehension. They took the time to explain everything to know about the place. They had a map of the city with all the points of interest. In addition, they are living there so they were always available if we needed something. Third, everything is very clean and well made (there is electricity plugs everywhere to charge our cellphone). Also, there was a hammock on the balcony of the room which is awesome. And finally the beautiful common area allows us to relax and chill. I recommend it to everyone of every age that comes to dominical.
