Beautiful hotel with spacious rooms set in beautiful gardens. Leo helped us with check in as well as the boat to and from Drake Bay, and booking our activities. We organised all our tours through them as well and I cannot speak highly enough of the motivation and enthusiasm of the tour guides they work with. Isaac on the night tour was tireless in his finding of, and explaining the many different frogs and snakes in Drake Bay. Carol was an expert on Whales (and managing sea sickness) on the Cano Island tour. And Stephany helped us tick so many animals off our bucket list on the half day trip to Sirena Station that we lost count. Absolutely recommend both the hotel and the tours!

Beautiful room with incredible shower! We had a nice view of the valley with all the birds and saw scarlet macaws, toucans, and monkeys in the trees. Beds are extremely uncomfortable - seems to be normal in Costa Rica - and felt like sleeping on a slab of concrete. Breakfast was good, if slightly overpriced. Emmanuel was very friendly and helpful and easy to reach via Whatsapp, which was nice because there was rarely anyone at the front desk. It is a short walk to town and the beach, but be prepared for the return walk uphill. Overall, some place we would stay again if we come back to Drake Bay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The rooms/suites are a bit spread out even in a small space so you feel like there’s a lot of privacy. The rooms are well appointed but tight on space (we had five people so it was par for the course). The main important things: AC, places to hang up damp items, and comfortable beds were well provided for. One note about Drake Bay - no pharmacy here so if you get an injury (scraped foot in our case) you may have trouble finding good bandages in the supers. The cashiers have some behind the counter but you’d be best served to come prepared. 😊

We stayed in Hotel Jacamar for 3 nights and purchased a tour package through them. The tours were beautifully organized, the staff was kind and professional, and the hotel was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and ready early so we could set off on early excursions. I highly recommend purchasing a hotel package with tours and breakfast. Our ferry ride into Drake Bay from Sierpe was beyond awful, so I would recommend traveling by road or plane (or maybe the earlier ferry as I’ve heard that is better?), but once we got here, it has been an absolutely perfect stay. 10/10 would recommend.

The tours were truly excellent. I never felt unsafe on the tour boats despite very turbulent seas (apart from that initial ferry ride from hell to get to Drake Bay which was not Jacamar’s fault). The tour staff were exceptional. We saw so many animals in Corcovado and our guide Emmanuel worked really hard to make that happen. Despite unseasonably rough seas, we were able to see a number of fish, dolphins, and turtles on the snorkeling tour, thanks to the staff working really hard to find the best spots. My daughters especially loved the guide “Miss Elsa”. After the harrowing journey to get there, our experience in Drake Bay was truly a dream, and Hotel Jacamar made that...

Super clean, quiet and functional a/c, great patio for afternoon bird watching, and conveniently located to the center of “town” (loosely applied-Drake Bay is minuscule). Emmanuel, the manager, is fantastic and very helpful—always available via WhatsApp and speaks both Spanish and English. He picked us up at the beach when we arrived via boat, arranged all of our tours (overnight in Corcovado, day trip to caño island for snorkeling, and a horseback ride). He also secured us a spot on the boat to Sierpe both on our arrival and return. The señoras who prepare breakfast are very kind and warm-hearted, and even poured us early morning coffee when we weren’t on their pre-ordered breakfast schedule. We would definitely stay again. (Family of 4, booked the room with a king and a double bed. Room 2, probably...
