Office Osa Tucán Hotel — Hotel in Bahía Drake

All good reviews you find about this place are true! We stayed last minute 5 nights at an incredible rate in all comfort. Extremely kind hostess Sra, very good air conditioning (takes some time to find the right setting that you don't get even too cold), good matrasses, big pillows, warm shower (even too warm for us, it is was a safety hazard though to change its temperature all the way at the top of the electric heating element, but I'm sure the hostess would have helped if we asked), and they even made up our beds and replenished materials in our room every day, which was totally unexpected! They have a garden area with nice private rooms and outdoor kitchen with fridge, a minute away from the main road. We did have to walk up with our luggage and didn't get picked up by a car, but maybe because we booked only the same day of arrival, or because we were only two. But it is only 5min walking from the boats beach and with some catching your breath it is no problem. The tour operation might seem slightly expensive but they can match any price you find online, you just need to ask (which is a bit uncomfortable but understandable). For beach we walked 10min east on the same boats beach and had a lovely plot for swimming, sunbathing and watching the sunset. In this low season we started as the only guests in the garden area, after two days another group joined there, the only improvement I can ask the owners is to place an empty room between groups when they can, as the walls are a bit thin and they woke me up laughing at 10pm when we had to catch a 6am boat, and again another day at 5am when they had to catch a 6am boat (my partner slept through it no problem). With three empty rooms in the garden building, it would have been more comfortable if we'd been assigned further apart. I really liked Osa Túcan. The room was clean, had a private bathroom and a (well-equipped!) kitchen and even A/C. It's "downstairs" from the main street which means you don't have a view - but it also means you feel like you're in the middle of nature while being only a few minutes walk from supermarkets, restaurants etc. For me, that more than made up for it. Staff was also very friendly (Alexandra, thanks so much for your kindness on a rough day!). The only room for improvement I see is that there was a bit of mould in the bathroom, but that is probably hard to avoid in this climate. The photos are quite deceiving as the rooms are very basic, cement floor, old cement wash stand. Mounted fan and floor fan provided some air flow but couldn't have window open due to bar situated just above this hotel.||Stairway/path from road down to rooms not lit at night and quite dangerous.||Hostess was extremely nice and they picked us up at the water taxi, made the arrangements and also arranged for our tour of park.
