(Update: We went there 2 years ago, I’m seeing some messages about a new owner here, so this might not be accurate) Oh boy where do I even start. People who manage this place and live on site (french woman and latin man) are nice and I didn’t want to upset them by leaving this review, but I feel like everyone who is considering this place for stay should just be aware of some things. There’s no privacy whatsoever. If you are a young couple, you would absolutely not be able to have your little intimacy time, because the house of management is right next to you and they are outside all the time with their kids, and there’s no windows in the bungalows. They are so close that they’ll hear you peeing (yes, no windows in bathroom either). Also, the bed was a huge part of it, it was horrible, very shaky and super loud, every time I turned from one side to another, dogs would literally start barking. But if you are a middle aged couple or a family with a bunch of kids - sure, go for it. There were A LOT of cockroaches. Small ones in the bathroom at night (like 5-7) and huge american roaches in the bungalow at night. If you are not ok with that (like me), just book somewhere else. It’s an eco lodge so I understand, ok. After we had breakfast (that they serve) no one picked up plates until 8pm on that day. The food was attracting all sorts of insects. No wonder there’s roaches. It was overpriced also for what it was and my mug was cracked. There’s no nets on the bed due to it “being not hygienic”. Again, if you ok with that, go for it. Considering all the roaches in the house, I’m not ok. I don’t care about the old towels and place being a bit dated. But I do care about privacy and insects. So if you are like me, stay elsewhere. On the good side: Located right in the Jungle, you can spot some animals in the morning and in the evenings 10 min walk to the beach Cheap, good if you are on the budget Water pressure surprisingly good + hot water Overall, among all the good memories I have from that trip I have the one about thinking that we should have booked a...
Read moreI stayed under the new management. All the reviews are months old and no longer represent the reality. They have no amenities except kayak and wifi. Their service lacks forethought, and care.
I tried reaching out to the hotel WEEKS prior to my arrival to get confirmation on my room; called, emailed NO REPLY, until the day of my check-in when they are messaging me, calling me, calling the booking website I booked through, asking when I plan to come, all while I am actually on the way over there and didn’t have much connectivity on my trip to respond. This should be done at least a week prior to guest arrival, NOT the day of.
When I checked in I was given no introduction to the lodge nothing, just taken to my room. The room was right next to staff home, very uncomfortable, as the staff family was sitting outside facing my room most of the time. The rooms are very basic and have a smell to them. The bedsheets/towels all are old and have permanent stains on them. The hand wash bottle had mold on it. They hadn’t even cleaned the refrigerator or trash cans from prior occupants and still had moldy stuff in the fridge.
When I asked Eilssa about breakfast options she couldn’t even suggest an appropriate place. Both places she suggested were either not open for breakfast or open later in the morning, considered a “brunch” place, and farther away than what she said they were.
I understand this a budget hotel, but very disappointed in the service and amenities, was supposed to stay 4 nights but only stayed 1 due to how things were, even 1 night was rough due to the room being smelly and sheets feeling “old” and unclean with the...
Read moreMy husband and I were here for 3 nights:) it was an amazing experience. You feel yourself in the middle of the Jungle. You can use kayaks(free of charge) to reach the Beach, that is really only Maximum 5 minutes away. We could also wash 1 time our things in this Hotel that was also for free. It was very helpful, because in this climate nothing get dry and you change your clothes several times in a day🙈 The couple(Family), who are working there were very nice and always very helpful. Even when we did checkout and drove to Tortuguero and my husband thought that he forgot his iPad there, they were so nice and checked the Cabin several times because of us and even checked the garbage. Thank you really for that effort🙏At the end my husband found it among his clothes(it is a small mini iPad, that you can loose really out of sight very fast). They were so kind, that they were ready even to find for us some Solutions how we could become it back even being far away in case they would find it. But thanks God Everything was ok. These people are really trustworthy😇We want to appologize to the Team, that they needed to spend their time searching for us 🙏Thank you for all your efforts and for being so warmly hosts❤️❤️❤️ I should say, that in Costa Rica we met only nice and kind people and we have only Beautiful memories about Place Pachamama and...
