We booked here very last minute owing to a change of plans, we literally went looking for hotels and this one worked for us. The hotel is basic but spotlessly clean, really big rooms, comfy beds, loads of towels, and Luis on reception is absolutely lovely, really friendly and welcoming.
I feel bad saying this review as I know it was partially my error and also done with good intentions- we got back from the mountains and our clothes were soaking wet so I hung them to dry in the room and also did a quick knicker wash (we were away for 3 weeks so needed some new pants- I'm sure I'm not the only one). I hung a sweater outside whole we had breakfast , it was sunny, and the rest in the bathroom and then totally forgot to bring it in. On our return, I got berated for doing this, and also for doing my laundry. I found that all my laundry had been taken out, knickers and all, and hung on the hotel lines. I was so embarrassed. I said ill go get them later. We went to get a drink in the shop, came back, and Luis himself had returned my clothes and undies to my room even though I said I would do it, and please not to go into our room (his English was amazing so this wasn't an excuse). Next day I asked for our room not to be cleaned and said we don't need fresh towels, we will reuse only to come back to find the room hadn't been cleaned but the towels changed and stuff moved around- it felt like we were being checked up on and I didn't feel safe or comfortable.
On our last day , we had a noon check out so went for coffee and an early lunch as we had a long travel day. We got back and the hotel gates were locked up and no one there to open up. We were shouting and calling and no one came. Thankfully I manged to wedge my hand under some wire mesh on the gate and open it and essentially broke in. I mean what hotel does that without warning?
It's fine.. but the staff need to...
Read moreI stayed at El Cerro for 6 nights while I attended Spanish classes in Liberia and I was totally pleased with my stay there.
My room was ready when I arrived and it had air conditioning and hot water, which I very much appreciated. The staff was great! Every day, a housekeeper came in and cleaned and mopped the room. Hotel manager Luis was very courteous and helpful throughout my stay. Luis's wife Leyla is an excellent cook and she prepared a delicious breakfast every morning. The hotel is very clean and well kept and I would definitely stay there again. I highly...
Read moreThis is a really nice, smaller hotel in the urban side of Liberia. Situated within a small neighborhood, with an abundance of great shops and restaurants nearby. The staff (Luis, Danielle, and Raphael) were exceptional hosts. Very accommodating and super customer service focused. We had several requests that were immediately taken care of. Can't thank them enough for their hospitality. The rooms are comfortable and very clean, with plenty of room to accommodate. The breakfast was incredible. Great flavor and made to order. Great...
