Despite all the good reviews. I'm going to write a bad review.
We rented their most expensive bungalow for $142 per night. Honestly, it's not even worth the money! No wifi! The wifi is only available in the common area. No shampoo, conditioner, and hire dryer. Ok, I don't care about a hair dryer, that's fine, but shampoo and conditioner are cheap and can be provided to the guests. There's nothing to do around. You need to drive to the La Fortuna area for activities. I don't understand why the hotel doesn't provide the bicycles for rent..... You have to pay cash for the hotel. The price is in dollars. We are in Costa Rica, and the currency of Costa Rica is colones. We had colones, the reception guy converted dollars to colones, and somehow, instead of paying 82000 (according to the current exchange rate), we paid 85000($150). The bungalow has big cracks everywhere. It's not safe for kids. I rented this bungalow only because many reviews were saying that they saw so many animals, wild birds, and the most important guy is 🦥. When we asked at the reception, where we could see the sloth, the guy told us, somewhere in the jungle. Lol, seriously 🤣. We didn't know it.
Conclusion:
It's worth staying in their $23 rooms. At least it has wifi, and you will be happy with the view from the main deck. Also there are many stairs and you have to carry your luggage to the bungalow. Another win for...
Read moreWe stayed at hotel casa torres for two nights while visiting the lake arenal area. We enjoyed the gorgeous views on the patio which is a nice place for a drink or to relax in the hammock. It was also great to have access to a kitchen to cut up fresh fruit. We were disappointed to find out we had booked the forest view room instead of the bungalows with a view of the volcano that are closer to the top of the hill. This room required a walk down a flight of stairs through overgrown and wet plants and only half of it was lit up. This made us a bit uneasy seeing as a coral snake was removed from the property during our stay. The bungalow itself had a gorgeous view of the jungle from bed, a mini fridge and a nice warm shower. Walking inside you were met with a wet, musty smell and all our clothes became damp in the room and would not dry out. The room was open to little geckos which we enjoyed seeing but we also shared our night with loud crickets and mosquitos in the room. Not sure what to think about the Christmas-themed decor - we chalked it up to a "reduce, reuse, recycle" effort. Overall we enjoyed the staff, spending time on the property outside of our room, seeing wildlife including a toucan and a sloth and the forest room itself was just tolerable for flexible,...
Read moreWe stayed here for 4 days while touring around La Fortuna ! We rented a car so it was easy to get around. The hosts of the lodge were very friendly and welcoming ! We rented out the room that had the attached bathroom some rooms have a shared bathroom. The rate was reasonable for $6 extra a day we included breakfast which was fresh watermelon, bananas and pineapple along with scrambled eggs, toast juice and coffee! One day I opted out of the eggs and toast and they were so kind to offer me extra fruit and even brought me mango as well. The hospitality here was wonderful. The little restaurant next door was convenient as well as delicious , the house special pizza was fantastic. As for the room itself it was quaint and quiet the balcony overlooking the Arenal volcano was beautiful we enjoyed spending the evenings out there. The common area also had picnic tables, chairs and hammocks over looking the volcano. We never had to drive more than 30 mins to see some of the major tourist attractions and every restaurant we went to was delicious. Jalapas down the street was a good one. There was wildlife everywhere toucans, monkeys right around the property. Thank you again to the hosts 10/10...
