Lagarta is such a lovely place. We had the pleasure of staying for ten days over the holidays. The views are incredible- mangroves, forests, and ocean. It is hard to describe how relaxing it is to just stare off into all of the nature- it is so good for the soul. There are three salt water infinity pools- one warmed which is perfect for later in the day. Unwinding from normal life and chillin by the pool is such a luxury. There is ample shade available for us sun- sensitives. There is a large preserve attached to the lodge that is perfect for taking a morning (or guided night walk- shout to Victor!) walk, complete w/ howler monkeys. Wake up early and go on a bird walk & you’ll be happy. Highly recommend tapping into the tours they offer- there are very knowledgable guides who will wow you with their expertise. The food- it’s good. Really good. Breakfast was our favorite. Get the Tico breakfast. You won’t regret it. Amazing views. The accommodations themselves were really nice. The bed was comfy, the room was pretty, nicely designed, gorgeous view and a great shower. Appreciated the daily spruce-up from housekeeping. AC, ample storage, a safe. Everything at the resort is in great condition and they clearly work hard to keep things very clean. Much appreciated! The staff at Lagarta are next level. So nice, so helpful, so responsive. I mean, you have an issue- it’s resolved quickly. We woke up one morning at 5:30am and the power had gone out. I texted the staff and they had it fixed within 5 minutes! They care. I can not speak highly enough about the people here. It makes a world of difference. Shoutout to Jana, Victor (tours!) and Jose for taking such great care of us. Worth noting that they also had the place sweetly decorated for Christmas. Not overdone, but sweet beachy- themed Christmas decor. It was really nice. I’d recommend not renting a car and paying for their shuttle service. Let the locals navigate the rough roads, contribute to the economy, and relax. Shuttles can be pricey but were still cheaper than the cost of renting a car at Christmas. We saw turtles, dolphins, howlers, and all kinds of birds & insects. Lagarta can help make this happen for you too. :) Thank you for the...
Read moreAbsolutely wonderful and relaxing stay in Nosara at the Hotel Lagarta Lodge.
The rooms are lovely. Ours was a family room with a large deck and beautiful view of the ocean and nature preserve. Loved waking up to see the sun rise and at night watching the sunset at the pool and dining area. Our teens enjoyed their room which was in the same unit. We shared a bathroom that was well appointed for four people. Shower was awesome. Beds super comfortable and air conditioner worked well. Thankfully it was quiet.
There were two pools to enjoy and one warm hot-tub which was comfortable. I wouldn’t have liked it too hot with the 80 degree weather. At the pools i loved that you could always find a lounge chair. Even for the whole family.
Food was very good and fresh. Loved the coffee. Perfectly brewed. And lovingly served. Breakfast was nice. As well as Chrismas Eve dinner. We ate lunch and dinner out as we wanted to explore the Nosara and Guiones area. Hotel staff helped us adjust reservations as needed.
Service was friendly and outstanding. A shout out to Juan Carlos and others at the restaurant. They were always eager to help.
Front desk service was also very friendly. We received great service from everyone especially Ernesto and Lukas. They helped is with excursions, directions and suggestions. Always with a smile.
Overall this is an absolutely gorgeous hotel with a true Costa Rican feel in an incredible location. It’s a nice place to relax and unwind as well as perfectly situated to visit the surrounding area. Though it was at full capacity we received excellent service and didn’t feel overrun.
My only recommendation for the hotel is to figure out a way to manage the Whats App communication system for their guests. It may be good to have someone follow through with questions and needs. Sometimes we got an immediate response and other times we don’t know if the message was going to receive a...
Read moreThe hotel is truly a special place. We spent 11 days in Costa Rica, with the last 3 days and 2 nights in Lagarta. As soon as we walked onto the property we knew it was the perfect place to end our trip. We took the guided tour through the reserve, which was well worth our time. We all had massages, including my children. The spa has a stunning view of the beach and reserve. Our dining experience was excellent. We ate all of our meals at the lodge, including pool side snacks and beverages. The lodge is family friendly, but it is also the perfect setting for a romantic get away. ||Our room had unbelievable views of the beach and reserve. The balcony was spacious as well as the bathroom and main bedroom. The shower also offered beautiful views of the beach and reserve. It had all of the ingredients for a blissful experience, but unfortunately, the construction made the room uncomfortable. ||Between 7:30am and 5pm. the construction sounded as if they were pounding in large metal support beams. It was very intense with little reprieve from the banging. I believe the construction came from an adjacent property on the south side of the lodge. The construction seemed only to be heard from our end of the lodge. You could not hear it from the common areas (pool, dining, spa, etc). ||I travel in and out of Nosara, and understand construction is part of the landscape, but I truly thought I was going to escape construction at Lagarta, so it was disappointing. However, we chose to keep a positive attitude and salvage the time we had by spending it in the common grounds where the construction could not be heard. ||I still recommend booking, and I will book here again, because it's such a unique and well designed hotel with one of the best views in the area. I would just suggest inquiring about the construction and ask not to be placed in a room where it...
