We booked here for 2 nights for a weekend trip. The first night was ok. At breakfast the next morning, we sat in an almost empty dining area away from the other patrons so we can have some privacy to eat.

The waitress came over without any sort of greeting and demanded that we sit in the area where the few other guests were seated. We asked her what the problem was and she said we were siting at a 4 person table (that was set for 3) and we needed to move to the other area. We indicated that the restaurant was almost empty and in the last 45 minutes of operation for breakfast, and the likelihood of the restaurant needing our table was slim. We told the waitress we didn’t want to move and wanted privacy, to which she replied “you don’t have a choice”. The waitress immediately created a hostile situation in the presence of the other 8 patrons creating a scene loudly arguing with my wife and I demanding that we move. We again told her we did not want to move. She said “I will let you slide today, but tomorrow you can’t sit here.”

Flabbergasted, we went to the front desk to ask for the manager, which we were told was at home over an hour away and wouldn’t be in until 10:00 at the earliest. We demanded an apology and the cancellation and refund of the second night.

We left afterwards in fear of one of the kitchen staff spitting in our food and feeling insulted and chastised. The waitress has no business...

Absolutely loved our stay here. ||Stayed for a week and what a fantastic time we had. ||Location was perfect for a quiet relaxing break. The hotel is a few minutes walk from a fantastic beach. Great for hanging out on during the day, or hanging around watching the sunset in the early evening. |At the weekend it can get quite busy with locals and their families making the most of it, but that adds to the atmosphere. Cars with local music playing, the aroma of the food cooking, all adds to the ambience. ||The hotel has really friendly staff that are more than happy to assist where required but give to the space you want when on holiday. ||Food in the restaurant has American influences, so not much in the way of Costa Rica cuisine||Locally there’s a supermarket, then maybe a 10 minute walk you’ll find a few restaurants, outlet store, bar, bakery and a fried chicken take away - do not as isolated as other reviews state. ||The only downside to the hotel is the distance from the airport , it takes almost 2 hours for a transfer. If you’re willing to do the transfer time it’s well worth it. ||Thank you to...

Had a simply wonderful time at Hotel Playa Bejuco. We stayed for 3 nights but wished we stayed 10! Room was immaculately clean with terrific AC and like all guest rooms overlooked the beautiful pool and landscaped grounds. The beach is a two minute walk away down a quiet street and you can hear the waves in the distance 24/7. Strong currents in the ocean but we found it easy to safely frolic in the waves up to waist deep water.

The service we received was impeccable, with standouts being Jancey in the dining room and Mildred at the front desk. They were so welcoming, friendly and gave us so much valuable information about the area.

The restaurant is always ready to serve up some seriously good food for an outstanding price, especially the lunch menu. An a-la-carte breakfast is included with the room and was always 10/10.

The town of Bejuco is as sleepy a beachside getaway town as you could ever imagine, but busses at the end of the road make it well connected to the rest of the country for a reasonable price. Cannot recommend this place highly...

Big thanks to amazing reception manager, Mildred who was incredibly helpful and chatty. Give that girl a rise! Hotel itself is well positioned if a little dated. The Dutch owner really needs to invest in a bit of maintenance. Our room was very damp and musty and one windows was rotten. The pool also needs work - lots of broken and missing tiles. Value for money is pretty poor compared with Europe and Asia. Breakfast was pretty good - loved the rice and beans. The wider location is awesome - massive sweep of wild beach. Saw so much wildlife here.

This was my 4th stay at Playa Bejuco Hotel. I love it because it is a 100 m from the beach, breakfast included, the rooms are big, clean, the fridge is cold, a/c works well. The staff is accommodating and bilingual. It has a bar and restaurant so you don't need to drive out for drinks or meals and amm are reasonably priced. Not overwhelming with tourists and most clientele are Tico, relaxing as a couple or with kids enjoying the tranquilo atmosphere by the pools or the beach.

The rooms are very dated. Musty old panel boards and chipped woodwork. Curtains that aren't quite long enough or missing altogether. The staff were nice and definitely used to dealing with disgruntled guests (signs posted clearly stating no refunds). When we went for breakfast, most of the tables were dirty and unserviced. The pool is its best feature. Bejuco beach is very close and lovely but I would find somewhere else to stay and eat. It is just not worth it.
