This was by far the best hotel we have ever stayed in. When my husband and I arrived we were greeted by Mike and Diana making us feel like we were coming to visit friends and family. We were welcomed in with open arms and had by far the best honeymoon stay ever. Starting with the breakfasts, THEY ARE AMAZING! Everything is vegan, and you get to choose from their every day items or a special. They then went through things we could do while we were there and gave us breakdowns, costs, hidden times (always expect 2-3 times longer than you plan when traveling in shuttles), and what to expect on these excursions/adventures. They made sure that when we made our decisions they had things booked and ready for us before hand always in a timely manner, and exceeding our expectations. The staff was very helpful, polite, and always helping us with practicing our Spanish. On top of all of the love we felt we did not tell anyone before hand that we were staying on our honeymoon. Mike and Diana found out and made sure to have a bottle of champagne waiting in our room after we adventured on our first day. The amount of detail, love, friendliness, and we didn't even discuss how absolutely stunning this property is...they made they end of our honeymoon absolutely magical. We cannot thank the staff at Hotel el Mono Feliz & specially Mike & Diana for all of your hardworking, hospitality and sheer kindness on our stay. We are forever grateful to have met you all and had an amazing experience in Ojochal. We absolutely recommend this hidden gem, whenever you're...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped at Hotel el Mono Feliz during a road trip to Drakes Bay. It was late, raining, and we knew we had to find a place to stay. Because of the good reviews, we decided to stay here.||||We arrived late, unannounced, with no reservation. Diana and Mickey couldn't have been more accomodating. They took us to our room with had a small kitchenette, dining table, and two very comfortable beds. The pillows felt new and the linens were soft. ||||But the best part was the next day when Diana brought breakfast to my room! It was delicious and even included banana bread. We then had some time to spare so we checked out the grounds.||||People are often quick to stay at big resorts, but usually those resorts don't have mature plants or are in the best locations. Hotel el Mono Feliz has a mature garden in the back with royal palms adjacent to a river. There is a rancho where you can swing on a hammock and watch white face monkeys overhead! A cute coati even passed us by. It was so relaxing there, I took a nap.||||There are a few important things that make a stay average to excellent. And that is a clean room, soft bedding, and people who are just flat out nice running the place. Nothing is ever perfect when traveling, but a smiling face upon your arrival can change everything. ||||Next time I plan another road trip, I will certainly stay...
Read moreMy family and I absolutely LOVED our stay here! Todd and Patrick who run this slice of absolute HEAVEN were so helpful and friendly! Patrick gave us incredible recommendations of excursions and places to eat and not only did he set up the excursions for us but also let us know what time we would want to be to breakfast in order to make it on time (I struggle with time management especially on vacation so this was incredibly helpful!) The grounds were breathtaking and extraordinarily peaceful! The breakfasts were so good that I am still craving them! They source locally and everything is VERY high quality! The yoga platform out by the peaceful flowing stream was rejuvenating as was every inch of their immaculately kept grounds! We loved it so much that we decided to extend our stay and I look VERY forward to staying here on my next trip to Costa RIca! There are gorgeous beaches, great excursions, delicious food and phenomenal amenities! I cannot recommend this place enough, if I could give 10 stars I would! Thank you so much Todd and Patrick for sharing your slice of heaven with us where we made memories that will last a...
