Spa Rincon Natura on Sabana Park South in San Jose now has Rooms! And the price is amazing - a nights lodging is under $25! (including a continental breakfast!!) They have about 7 clean (but simple) rooms. Either single, bunk beds or 2 double beds and a table in each room and that's about it. Some have a private bath, some have a shared bath. And the water is hot! and it's clean, and it's safe! These are not dorm rooms that are shared by 6 or 8 people - they are ' private rooms meant for 1 or 2 people. Actually this place is less expensive than a private room at a youth hostel or your cheapest hotel (I know, I checked) And it's way more quiet and tranquil. (No cigarette smoking inside however) || There is one TV in a common area that also has a fridge, coffee maker, microwave and toaster. A free computer and wifi is available for guest use (and the wifi should work in your room if you have your own laptop or tablet.) || Within a short walk are bars, restaurants, 2 small groceries, 2 museums, an ice cream parlor, pharmacy -even a department store - you get the idea. Bus stops are also very close and it's less than a 10 min to ride to downtown San Jose or out to Escazu in the other direction - fares are under 75 cents. (Yes there are lots of taxis for those of you who would rather spend $5 than .50 cents) Across the street is Sabana Park, a huge green expanse with running tracks, a lake, a swimming pool, and many trees to sit under and just read a book. Oh and less than 10 minute walk is a Sat/Sun produce and flea market that's worth a stop.... || This is also a working spa which is located upstairs. Massages, facials, etc( at a reasonable price if you're interested) There is also a large back room that hosts yoga and meditation classes from time to time.|| The owners Emanuel and Raquel are very sweet - they also have a great staff. And I'm sure once the word gets out, booking in advance will be a very wise move. || One thing I want to add. All 4 roads around Sabana Park are main roads. Translate that as 'noisy' . There's even a train but it's a commuter train and only runs during the day. And the rooms are set more to the back which does help to mute things some. And those loud traffic sounds are also daytime sounds - not nearly as much at night. And you're not going to be there a lot during the day cause you're going to be out doing stuff right? All in all - this is a gem of a place. No - it's not the Hilton - but it's also $20 a night.|| Hope you...
Read moreMy mom and I had been looking/calling all over San Jose to find a "nice" spa. We were willing to splurge a bit but came up empty. We stumbled across this place on the internet. We thought we'd give it a try even though it wasn't exactly what we had in mind. I am so glad we did! We both got full one hour massages followed by one hour facials. What a treat! The room was lovely, very relaxing with a full bath to change/shower before the treatment with relaxing music playing. There was a lot of noise from the street but I found it very easy to focus on the music and just allowed it to be background noise. Alejandra did my massage and facial. She was excellent! She has clearly been trained and I left feeling very relaxed. AND, the prices were SOOO reasonable! ||||We did not stay at the hostel as we were booked in a hotel in town. All the people that greeted us were very friendly and warm. I can't speak to the hostel, but there is a nice room for yoga and meditation as well that...
Read moreI stood banging on the door for 15 minutes. I gave up, walked down the street, and found English speakers that tried calling the place. No one answered the phone. They were able to call a friend of a friend that works there. Finally a guy came out shirtless, rubbing his eyes like he just woke up (7pm) They lost my reservation. The guy said he could quickly clean a room for me as he stood there rubbing his bare belly. I said no thanks and that I would go to the airport a day early. He said he had a friend that drove a taxi and called him to give me a ride. The cab driver was weird. But he isn't part of the hotel just a friend. The hotel had a beautiful view. Beyond anything else I have seen. If they don't lose your reservation, they are probably a...
