Posada El Quijote is a lovely, charming spot that offers a wonderful stay with truly breathtaking views of San José. From the moment I arrived, the serene atmosphere and welcoming vibe made me feel right at home.

One of the highlights for me was the company of the resident cats—they added such a delightful touch to the experience, making it feel even more like a home away from home. The common areas were bright, spacious, and perfectly suited for relaxation, whether you wanted to read a book, enjoy a cup of coffee, or simply take in the stunning view over the city.

While the stay was fantastic overall, there were a couple of very minor inconveniences. The Wi-Fi didn’t quite reach my room, which was a bit of a hassle, and occasionally the showers didn’t get as warm as I’d have liked. However, these were small issues in the grand scheme of things and didn’t detract from what was otherwise a great stay.

If you’re after a peaceful retreat with gorgeous views and some feline friends, Posada El Quijote is an...

The first night was a little nerve-racking; we arrived on a Saturday, and it was loud up until 1030 or so outside of our room (we were close to the entrance gate). After night one, we were much more comfortable:)

The staff is excellent and very accommodating; it was almost as though we were cruising once again—afternoon coffee, breakfast each morning, and lots of activities local to the hotel.

We have been all over CR, which was very peaceful even though it is close to the city.

The pool is lovely, and the garden area attracts many birds. Plenty of seating on the pool deck, and most days, it was almost private.

The owner lives on-site and is very helpful as well. He even helped me get a bottle of wine and flowers for my wife for our anniversary:)

Quiet, serene, and private for being so close to the city is nice.

**They do accept American cash, and if you drive, parking can be a bit tricky at times, but they...

Would've given this place a higher rating if it wasn't for the bad experience we had on our last day. There was a miscommunication on breakfast times from the staff, although they made it seem it was our fault and like we were crazy. The bald guy that sits in the front has a horrible attitude and definitely gives off the vibe that he just doesn't want to be there. The way he treated us and spoke to us on the last day of our stay proves he should not be in hospitality/service and is the main reason for my low rating. The saving grace were the sweet ladies in the kitchen that went out of their way to ensure we left to the airport fed and tried their best to ammend the situation. ||Overall, location is decent and for the price it makes sense. Place is outdated and there were lots of little bugs crawling in our room, including spiders. Breakfast is good but I hope after this incident they fire that bald guy and make...

Stayed here 2 nights but wish we had longer. Staff is absolutely wonderful. Room was spacious, full of natural light and so much charm. Such a unique place! Would highly recommend room 27. Pool had the coolest view of the city. Guide book in the room with great recommendations. 5 min away from escazu San Miguel (old escazu). Bathroom is a tad dated but spacious and nice. Daily room service kept our room so clean. Free served breakfast each morning is delightful and delicious. Price was so reasonable during the rainy season. Nearby road noise is very loud but unavoidable in the city. The inn itself is very peaceful and quiet. Sweetest dog named perla and 5 friendly cats that live on the property. Don’t stay here and complain about them if you don’t like animals. Would high recommend!

The views of this place is drop dead gorgeous. We had some slight issues with our first room. Had humidity issues. Management and staff handled it highly professional. As a traveler who has traveled to over 70 plus countries and stayed at countless hotels things happen that are out of any ones control. What matters the most is how the team finds ways to rectify the matter. They did an outstanding job and truly value their guests and Clients. This truelly shows. This is a class act of a place and should definitely consider them as an accommodation when staying in San jose. Many thanks and appreciations to the awesome staff and especially Bjorn. Kind regards Alden
