It’s rare that I write a 3-star review but in this case I feel it’s only truthful. To begin with we wound up here as a last minute option after an Airbnb reservation turned out to be 60 minutes from the airport after claiming to be “near the airport.”
The good: this place is indeed near the airport (5 mins). The grounds were beautiful. The pool looked nice although we didn’t use it. The water pressure was awesome and hot water a real treat after 11 days of traveling the country. I felt like the staff were just okay. The front desk guided us to “City Mall” for a restaurant… um… don’t do that. It’s basically a gigantic mall with a food court. Room was clean with a few bugs but you won’t find a stay in Costa Rica without some bugs. The AC worked great.
The bad: the hotel was hosting a private event for the evening so their restaurant was basically not available to us, unless we wanted to crash their party. That’s a a shame too because I really wanted to try their craft brews made on location. The music was LOUD and the walls were thin. You could hear basically everything, which, interfered with our sleep. The decor was very dated so if you’re looking for “modern” look elsewhere. And lastly, we paid $75 for the night. I felt like it was more of a $40 value.
Anyway, I see that many people have found this place to be very adequate for their needs I just wish we had looked a little harder before booking. Having said all of this, you’re in Costa Rica, so it’s still a...

We had 3 in one room and had to pay an additional $15 per night. Why have 2 queens and charge for an extra person?! ||Breakfast advertised on Trip Advisor as FREE—is not. $8 per person and very basic. If free breakfast were included, we MIGHT have understood the extra room charge. It was not.||Two towels in the room. No bath mat. |No hooks for towels in the bathroom.|One room had tv channels in English, but the other rooms did not, and it couldn’t be programmed for English. The front desk personnel were not interested in helping, could not have cared less. More or less just shrugged shoulders and reiterated that they had nothing to do with the management style, which of course is true.||We had a general overall feeling that we did not get what we paid for. The hotel advertises itself as “budget”, but at $270 for 2 nights, breakfast not included, that’s no budget price.||I’ve stayed in many Costa Rican hotels over the past 20 years. I brag on the quality of Costa Rican hotels to friends and family. But if you want a budget experience, there are several hotels easier to get to, closer to airport, with free breakfast and free shuttle. The price is generally $50-80 per night, depending. Much more bang for the buck.||So disappointed. ...
Read moreWe stayed here for one night after our flight. We rented a car from the airport and when we drove it was already dark. The place was well lit and easy to spot. (And very close to the airport!)
The rooms are comfortable. We requested a crib for the room and they contacted us right after the booking to let us know it will be installed. It had a changing pad and a mosquito net (not shown on photos because I had taken it off)! I suggest to bring your own pack n play sheets because they use regular sheets which they stuff under the mattress and so when the baby moves it comes undone. It was like that in all the hotels we stayed at. We stopped at walmart but they don't carry sheets for cribs!
The grounds were very nice and upkept.
We ordered their traditional breakfast (rice and beans, tortilla, eggs, cheese) and it was really good. Surprisingly, it is here that we had the best rice and beans while in Costa Rica.
The staff were really friendly.
Internet had great speed and you could video call.
Great value for the price.
The only con: the shower pressure was soooo low, you needed to increase the cold water to get it flowing enough to wash your hair and so it was a pretty cold shower. (This was actually a recurrent theme in most hotels we stayed at while in...
