When I need to drive to Liberia, I stop at Walmart to buy facial scrub, lotion, shampoo, dog food, cleaning supplies, sodas, juice, roasted chicken, and chicharonn. Unfortunately, their fruit and veggie section isn't very good. A lot of the produce is over ripe and bruised. I will not buy meat at the counter because they will not wait on me (I'm guessing it's because I'm American and they think I can't speak Spanish, but I do). Also, their employees are standing in many of the aisles but there are few registers open. This is a good place to buy typical grocery items except for meat, frozen items, and produce. Expect to stand in line to check out, which can impact cold items if you have a long drive. Boxed items such as pizza are typically thawed by the time you get them to your car and into your cold bags...
Read moreIf you are looking for a quiet place to stay, from the hustle and business of Tamarindo this is the place! It is a gated resort, a pool, playground, and very friendly neighbors. The accommodations where we stayed had all the items you need to feel comfortable with the exception of a working oven, but we made do. Our hostess, Carmen, went the extra mile to provide for a couple of our needs the first week and we were there for 4. It’s clean, one bedroom with a hideaway bed in the couch, and an additional air mattress.
