When we first moved to the Tamarindo area several people told us about the produce market in villa real.. Located on the main street in town just next to the football field, the Frutas Y Verduras market set behind a large chain link fence and offers plenty of parking for customers.. It’s surprisingly large with a huge selection of produce and a range of other products, from honey and pastries to ice cream and soft drinks.. There’s even a small gardening section with some tools, potting supplies and house plants.. The convenience of the location and the consistency of their selection makes this place a trusted stop on our shopping runs.. But the biggest upside to shopping here has to be the prices.. Some items are literally half the cost here than you will find them at a local grocery or health food store.. The quality is going to be questionable some times so just pay close attention to what you’re buying.. Nothing here is marked “organic” but some is very local and fresh and some definitely comes from traditional farms that don’t use chemical pesticides.. Just pay close attention to what...

Fun place with fresh and ripe fruit. Expect to see ripe and very ripe fruit, but pick through and you won't be disappointed with the taste! Also they have frozen fruit also very fresh and great in a smoothie. We got super fresh eggs and a few other things too. We stop by often for a fresh assortment of fruit and veggies. And the red dragon fruit is only around for a short time, but I've never tasted anything...

If you have a chance to support the local fruit and vegetable marts, do that! This verduraria was fully stocked with all things fresh for any recipe. They also had a few shelves with pantry items such as hot sauces, tp, soap, etc. The prices are very similar to any other store, if not a bit more expensive, but the quality is better than any grocery store.
