ROOMS TOO HOT TO SLEEP. NO HOTTUB OR SAUNA.
I am in the room writing this at 3am because I can not sleep due to the room temperature being too hot.
When I called the front desk about this earlier in the evening, explaining that the room was at 24'C despite the digital thermostat being set to 19'C, she said the control system does not work to cool the rooms, it can only heat them. She said she would turn down the level for our room at which the heat would come on, but this made no difference. In fact the room got hotter and is now 25"C.
Opening the window helps cool the room but as the hotel is on a busy street, the noise of passing cars is loud and disruptive, and it also let's mosquitoes in. Opening the window is also ineffective unless the door to the hallway is also opened. This is when I noticed other rooms had the same problem, as their hallway doors were also open. The sound of other guests is now added to the traffic noise.
Also, the advertising is deceptive as it includes photos and a description of a Wellness Center with hottub and sauna. However the fromt desk said this was not available as it is still under construction - which is hard to believe considering the clear signs of age of the building, including large stains in the carpet. She said this detail is disclosed on the website but I checked and that is not true.
While definitely not the worst looking hotel I have seen, as the purpose was to a get a few hours of sleep before an early flight, and that is not happening, if I had to do it again I would...

Did not get the room we booked. The pictures were nothing like the room we got. It had a moldy shower (really bathroom floor with a glass partition) instead of the tub, the mattress that was folding with your body weight, a sheet thrown over it instead of proper bedding, and this nauseating sewer stench in the bathroom that made it almost impossible to be in the room. When complained, were met with rudeness and unwillingness to help in any way. The receptionist, Paula, was particularly rude. In a dismissive tone she offered us “the only room they had left” which was for invalid usage. Even that room smelled like stale smoke.
We then connected with Booking, and their service is not what once used to be. After 2.5 hours of phone calls (all us bearing the cost), the solution was to move to a hotel 17 km away. At this stage, we have already lost 2.5 hours, needed to re-pack for our early flight, so we decided to stay. This was a typical entrapment strategy and we think it is high time to change the platform we choose for our travel plans.
The outcome: the hotel offered nothing, and neither did Booking. We had to stay in a smelly room, NOT the category we booked, and sleep in the most uncomfortable bed ever. To add insult to injury, there was so much noise in the hallways until late at night, that nobody seemed to moderate. Breakfast was shameful in terms of offerings, broken coffee machine and lack of replenishment of anything. A discount might have been appropriate, at minimum,...

(No great surprise as it is a 2pm onwards check in) |The lovely Lucy on reception gave me a complimentary cold beer to drink outside whilst I sat in the sun waiting for my room. Within 10 minutes my room was ready. |The room was immaculate. One of the cleanest hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. Housekeeping do a very thorough job.|Very comfy beds, good quality linen & great walk in shower. Comp shower gel & soaps. |The drinks in the bar were very reasonable. Great service. |The breakfast was adequate. Something for everyone & the staff were very accommodating to my partners special egg requests!|The best thing about this hotel though was the front of house staff. The lovely Lucy & the equally lovely Marta. An asset to the hotel. They couldn’t have been more helpful & always with a smile. |Paid E25 in a taxi from the airport. Big rip off. Uber was a third of that. |About a 20 min car drive into central Zegreb or there’s a bus stop 100 yards down the street & the hotel is either the first or last stop depending which way you’re travelling! |Big Spar hyper market a few mins walk away.|My only negative point is that there’s a little area at the back. Such a shame it’s not been made into a better...
