I stayed at J&J for the past week. I booked this trip somewhat last minute as I wanted a change of scenery from the UK. ||||On arrival to the accommodation, I instantly felt at home. The welcome was very warm and as many have said here, those who run the guesthouse really make this place special. They go beyond to make sure guests have everything they need to be comfortable and enjoy the local area. They were so helpful with any question I had and even sourced books in English for me, after I got through my holiday read a little too quickly. I really can't speak more highly of the owners and I will be returning here hopefully in the next month. ||||The room I booked was large with a king-sized bed. It was immaculately clean and the sheets and towels are luxurious. For a guesthouse, the standard is higher than I expected. ||||Zaton itself is stunning. The beach is a minute walk away and there is a good path that stretches around the bay -- ideal for running (if that is your thing). ||||I was also working during this week and the guesthouse (and staff) made that so easy. The WIFI is fantastic and there's shaded seating on the terrace and downstairs with tables and chairs where you can set up a mini-office, if you have to!||||Overall I had an absolute ball staying here and I'm actually not over the moon about leaving tomorrow. As said, I'll be returning here. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to reach out to me about Zaton the guesthouse or COVID-related questions traveling to Croatia from...
Read moreMy friend and I have just returned from a wonderful two week stay at J&J Guesthouse. Jasna, Joseph and their son Marin went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and at home. We booked a room with a terrace which had wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. Our room was very well presented, spotlessly clean and fresh towels and clean sheets were provided regularly. There is also air conditioning. We are late sleepers and as there was a fridge in our room, decided to fend for ourselves at breakfast time buying yogurts and fruit from one of the two nearby mini-supermarkets and breakfasting on the terrace. We loved the pebble beach three minutes walk away and spent most of our time there, getting to know some of the locals who spend the day there who also made us feel very welcome. The sea is clean, safe and excellent for swimming against the dramatic backdrop of the mountains. There are several very good restaurants nearby and we highly recommend Restoran Dandy in Zaton Mali where we ate lunch most days and for dinner, Tavern Ankora and Restoran Kasar, both a ten to fifteen minute stroll away along the seafront in Zaton Veliki. We would recommend hiring a small car as the streets and roads are very narrow. Dubrovnik is a fifteen minute drive away and the Old City made an interesting excursion as did the town of Ston (about an hours drive away). The first weeks of September seemed an ideal time to visit. It was still very pleasantly warm and also quiet. A wonderful relaxing holiday...
Read moreWe arrived late in the evening and it was a bit hard to find the place in the dark. A sign would have helped. Also the street is really narrow and the parking outside was almost full so make sure you check first that there is a place for your car. We have a really big car so it was a bit tricky. However they were really helpful and another guest agreed to move his car to make room for ours.
Furthermore they had made a mistake in the booking so we got the wrong room. We got a bottle of wine as an act of apology and although it was nice, I would have preferred to get an discount since we didn’t get at all what we had booked (no balcony and twin beds instead of a double bed). With that said it was a very nice and clean room, so there is no complaint there. All in all it was a really nice and cozy place and without the huzzle we would probably stay there again.
The village is super cute and has a really nice atmosphere. We only stayed one night, but would love to come back and...
