We ( family of 4, 2 kids) spent a very enjoyable week at hotel Narcis. Narcis is part of the maslinica hotel complex, so all amenities are available to guests from all 3 hotels, which is great because a lot is available (including fitness, sauna, mini disco for kids). The hotel was very clean, and well staffed. Usually our room was even cleaned by the time we returned from breakfast!|The rooms are very large and spacious with generous sized balconies and plenty of storage spaces for luggage and clothes. We were also pleasantly surprised to see a drying rack on the side of the balcony! The beds were comfortable and we slept well, including the kids which had a bed/ sofa.||The food was really excellent. We had half board (breakfast and dinner) and didn’t need to buy lunch because we were still full but we usually bought some ice cream cones with the kids:)I enjoyed the grilled vegetables at breakfast (peppers and eggplant) as well as the huge selection of fresh seasonal fruits like melons, apricot and plums. The kids liked the waffles and pancake machine. We also also thought the filter coffee was very good!! (But we didn’t like the coffee from the machine, it was instant coffee). At dinner we especially enjoyed the chicken legs, spinach and risotto (thank you to the staff for working hard and cooking so well). Food was always brought out very quickly and it seemed like there was more than enough for everyone. We never experienced long queues at breakfast or dinner even though we went during the main tourist season.||Thr location is excellent. The hotel is very close to the beach, and there are free lounge chairs ( white with a red M) guests can use. We enjoyed walking the promenade, checking out the other beaches and many activities like SUP, snorkeling, swimming, the floating obstacle course (wibit fitness park) and cliff diving from another beach about 3 km away, plus a pirate ship excursion . ||Overall the experience was very good and we would come again.||The negatives are only 2:|1. The elevators are few and far between. Because of this we only used the elevators twice the entire trip: once to take the big suitcases up to our room and once to take them back down, even though we lived on the 5th floor. We are young and fit so we didn’t mind taking the stairs but if you have mobility issues or a baby stroller you may want to ask for a lower floor, or else you will spend a lot of time waiting for the elevator. Some guests told us they regularly had to wait over 10 minutes for the elevator.|2. The air conditioner was not very good. It blew slightly cooler air but our room was never “fresh”- maybe 23° or 24°. In the evening it seemed that the air quality decreased and it started smelling a bit stale. We slept with the big terrace door open instead of using air con at night, so it was ok. I think if there had been a heat wave it would have been much too hot...

The hotel has 4 stars, but realistically, I would give it 3. The many services and activities (indor and outdor pool, spa, fitnes, tennis court, mini golf,...) makes it a 4-star hotel, but the hotel rooms kind of disappoint. We were told we have a balcony with a view but got a nice suprise (attached picture). In the room is a mini fridge, and only two free electric sockets. Those are not on each side of the bed. (Additional sockets are for the fridge and TV). The AC is very weak. During the visit, it was running all the time on max, yet it did not cool down the room much. Still, it was bearable to sleep, but for a 4-star hotel, it should be better. On the other hand, the restaurant was very much in standard with a 4-star hotel. Great selection of food to choose. It is an open kitchen with a wide selection that also changes from day to day. Liked the open bar for drink (wine, beer, and also non alcoholic drink). Tables could be a bit better cleaned after one eats (bread crumb leftovers on napkins). The staff is very friendly and professional.

If there was a star for guests, I would rate them as 1 star for being rude and arogant. We had an experience where on the beach there was a broken umbrella, and we asked a staff member if we could get a spare and he took it from a nearby free spot (no one was there. They just reserved the spot with towels. After an hour an elderly lady came and took it from us without even saying anything. Very rude). The staff member then brought us a new one. Cudos for that. For the old lady, if she ever reads this. Learn some courtesy! If I could make a suggestion for this issue, maybe the management could give each room their own umbrella. Maybe also charge something for it, and at the end of stay, you get that charge back. Of course, if it is in the same shape.

All in all, it was a good...

We had a beautiful weekend stay at this hotel as a family, traveling with our (almost) 2 year old. The location is beautiful. It’s really nice to go for an evening walk by the sea. The view from our room was beautiful and we really enjoyed being on the 7th (top) floor. The food was very good, although sometimes it wasn’t labeled correctly. For example, during one dinner there was a sauce that was labeled ‘bolognese’ but it was clearly a green, vegetable type of sauce, which was a bit confusing, because it clearly wasn’t bolognese sauce. We also don’t eat meat, so it was disappointing there was also a pasta that was labeled “pasta with zucchini and saffron” so we started eating it before realizing there was some type of bacon or ham also in it. I think meals that include meat should be specifically labeled, in case someone doesn’t eat meat. Other than that, we loved the food. The pools are amazing for kids and we loved that you can basically go to any pool you want to (in the whole hotel complex). The room was very nice and clean, however, it was a bit ‘damaged’ in certain areas. For example, the bathroom could use renovation and it had marks in certain places (check last and second to last picture i attached). It just doesn’t fit the four star hotel vibe. Other than that, we loved the room. The air conditioning was working wonderfully, the room was always at just the right temperature. The staff was very friendly, especially the foreign employees who only spoke english turned out to be the nicest...

If you’re looking for the absolute worst hotel experience of your life, congratulations — you’ve found the right place. We paid for a beautiful room with a balcony, but were instead dumped in a basement that could only be described as a prison cell without the charm. After arguing with the staff (because apparently, getting the room you paid for is considered “negotiable” here), we were moved to another room. This “upgrade” came with a free souvenir — short, curly hairs that were definitely not from someone’s head. But wait — it gets better. In the middle of the night, our ceiling collapsed. Yes, collapsed. I have two small children, and I’m sure the management would describe this as an “authentic adventure experience.” When we asked them to fix the broken air conditioner that caused the ceiling to give way, they handed us… towels. Not to clean up the mess — no, no, to catch the water so it wouldn’t make the floor wet. Genius. This place should win an award for turning a dream vacation into a survival reality show. If you love filth, danger, and the warm feeling of being scammed, book now — because this is truly the WORST hotel on planet Earth.
