Hotel Maksimilian — Hotel in Grad Osijek

The following is a copy of an email I sent to owner managers of Maksimilian:|Dear Jasmina and family,| I was at your residence with Ivan's Intrepid tour group June 24-25 and hope it's not too late to express my appreciation of a wonderful travel experience. Your guest house is like being with family, I loved it as I know the other group members did too. I also very much loved your town thanks to the outstanding introductory tour from the gorgeous Matej. I learned so much in the few hours he walked us through Osijek, he struck a perfect balance between historical context and personal stories to give us a deeper understanding of what it was like to grow up in Croatia during the conflict of the 90s. He really set us up for the next 13 days of the tour with a much better grasp of that time in the Balkans. He is wonderful.|The tone was set upon our arrival when you and your husband greeted us and shared your grappa which I really enjoyed. |Our rooms and the lounge areas at Maksimilian were perfect, clean, spacious, comfortable and so welcoming. As for the breakfast, they are memorable for the variety, generosity and exceptional freshness. My favorite breakfasts ever.|Ivan is the best tour leader I've been privileged to be with after probably 15 tours in various parts of the world. Maksimilijan is a place that is as pleasant and comfortable as my own house. I've coming here often enough and made such good friends that it feels like my second home. The hosts, Jasmina and Vlado, are very helpful and friendly. However they also let you have your own space and leave you to it. You can just call them, if you need anything. Staff also very professional, extremely helpful, accomodating and friendly. If you had, for example, a frustrating day, instead a calling upon kickboxing session, there is Goca with her amazing sense of humor, to cheer you up, She can put a smile on one's scrunched face. Or just go to the beautiful wine cellar, with excellent wine and craft beer choices, and have a glass or two...||Maksimilijan is excellent in every way. Wonderful Guesthouse in great location - right in the middle of most attractions which are within walking distance. It is perfectly chic, rooms are comfortable, equipped with essentials and sparkling clean. They served wonderful breakfast (don't miss Goca's famous fried eggs!). And, most important, there is free coffee and tea in the dinning room all day (isn't a joke!).||You will loved this place, its charming character inside and out with a beautiful garden and nice patio with table and chairs under grapes tree.||Highly recommend.||Thank you guys for making my stay always special! We stayed at Maksimilian four nights, and we were sorry we could not stay longer. It was an exquisite experience, the location is perfect - right in the middle of the old town, in a freshly renovated old building, keeping the character of the old times while offering all the best that new technology has to offer - the internet connection was flawless. The interior decoration is perfectly tasteful, making it a delightful place to spend your time. The rooms are excellent, extremely clean, spatious but cosy and inviting. But probably the best asset is the staff - friendly and nice, talkative and helpful - we simply loved Iasmina and Gordana! They perfectly compliment the beautiful location, turning an already great visit into a splendid one! We recommed Maksimilian whole-heartedly, feeling certain that once you've been there, you will fall in love with the place...
