Really impressed by this hostel. I walked in in the small hours of a Saturday morning with no booking and the night staff not only did allow me to check in, but they even had a range of different rooms for me to choose. Even though it was low season, I think this was already a feat of flexibility. I chose a private room in order to avoid disturbing people already sleeping in a dorm and I got a cosy twin room with en-suite private bathroom for the equivalent to just €19.60. Both my room and its en-suite were so clean I could have believed they were brand new, and the shower had strong pressure and very hot water. If getting all this for under €20 is not a bargain, I don't know what is. A (very) simple continental breakfast is included in the price, but I chose to skip it. The hostel is generally very functional and it appears to have been renovated recently and as a result it looks new and fresh everywhere if slightly impersonal. The catch seems to be the location 25 minutes' walk from the city centre in a neighbourhood that, although very near the sea, is rather uninspiring and industrial. Also you need to make your own bed with the bedlinen provided. Personally, I think all this is a more than fair deal -definitely...
Read moreHostel in an old Villa is inviting and surrounded by park. I had the smalest room with one bunk bed. It was spotless člean as the rest of the hostel. There are bigger rooms with more bunkbeds and bathroom in each of tem. Rooms are off digferent shapes but all spacious and with some sea and park views. It was very quiet although there was a big group of children around. Classics breakfast is self servedin a fancy room dawnstairs. There are photographs of Rijeka all around and you can get all info about Town at the reception. All personnel was very attentive, kind and talkative. They even take care of two street cats - the orange one likes to be around people. Hostel is Just a few minutes walk grom the nearest beaches - some od them are really Nice. The Town center is about kilometer away, easy to walk. Going to Trsat castle for Best views is a bit harder but managable over a lot of steps or winding road. you can take public bus or renta a scooter on the street as well. Hostel offer Nice, čakam...
Read moreThe place is very basic. A bed, a locker and that's it. Don't expect much decoration in the rooms. Some have en suite bathrooms (i.e. shower, toilet, sink), some are shared. Linen is provided on a make-the-bed-yourself basis. The mattress was ok. The shower could use a good scrub down. Location, really far away from the city centre. Badly connected via bus, there is one that stops just at the Hostel but very infrequent. But, if you don't mind walking, you could get there in 20 minutes. Breakfast is served only from 8 to 9, costs 25 kuna (approx. 3 euros). Regarding the staff, they are simply awesome. So helpful and truly friendly. But based on location and accommodation, I've been to a lot better places for the same price that had a lot more to offer.|Don't forget to say hello to the hostel cat, it's usually waiting for you at...
