We just returned from 4 nights at Hotel Jadran and it was our second trip there this year, because it was just perfect for us. What you must understand is, that this hotel is kind of business hotel for short trips, or for short breaks. There are no tourist facilities around, so you will stay most of time at hotel. If you park your car, you will be happy not to move it, otherwise it will be difficult to find parking slot again. But what you can do, is to ask receptionist to call you a taxi, which is only for 6 Euros for trip within 5km inside Rijeka. We used taxi to visit different restaurant in the city. It is not really for families with small kids, the water is quit deep at the entrance to the sea. There is big shopping mall 10min walk away, but be ready for 96 stairs to get there, which is not that easy in 35 degrees :D There is Interspar in the shopping mall, too. Overall we loved the hotel, we will come back next year again for some short break, or maybe two :D Here are my Pros and Cons for this hotel... Pros: the view from rooms is incredible, sea view is a must :) breakfast – delicious, big choice for everyone, loved the Croatian corner with little fishes receptionist Ena – this lady is fabulous, nice, helpful, friendly, just great… all stuff is very polite and nice, smiling aircon working perfect We stayed in second floor and Wi-fi was perfect, even on the beach pier The hotel is quiet, far away from noise coming from nearby beach Sablicevo You can swim to Sablicevo, if you miss noise :D Cons: The hotel is outdated, but still has all what you need and is clean Be ready for little oily spots on the top of the water from huge dock nearby, but nothing serious, you can find your clean way to swim, or to wait until it disappears, it didn’t disturb us Sometimes waiters forget your order or mix it up (or the ones who prepare the order), but nothing serious, we could survive :D Restaurant - the food is not the best, but you can find there something. We even ordered Pizza from outside and that is...
Read moreI stayed 3 nights at this hotel last month. It was our first and last visit to Rjeka. I'll start with the bad and finish with the good. The hotel restaurant is not fit for purpose, very small menu. No other restaurants anywhere close by unless you travel the 30 minutes by car or bus to the town centre and even then only a handful are actually open. Rjeka is very run down. We ate at the hotel restaurant on our first night and the waiter short changed me 10 euro. He did return the 10 euro when confronted. The breakfast buffet is very poor. Unless you're there very early, everything is gone and nothing is replenished. On our last day, I was taking sone yogurts and fruit for our journey and a very rude waitress Malita came over in front of everyone started telling me that wasn't allowed. We don't eat big fried breakfasts like the majority were there, just some fruit and yogurt so this was out of order. Also, the previous morning, a local couple at the table next to ours proceeded to openly make sandwiches to take them with them, along with cakes and fruit. Nothing was said to them though so my advice is if you are not Croatian don't go here as the restaurant staff contempt for certain nationalities is very obvious. Malita was also with the waiter the evening of the 10 euro incident. The hotel has no pool only direct access to the sea. It's actually quite dangerous as the steps to the water are covered in algae and very slippy and it is full of sharp stones, really poor set up. The only positive feedback I can give for this hotel was for the receptionist Ena. She went above and beyond to get the air conditioning in our room fixed and also helped out with arranging taxis and a boat trip. She was exceptional, the only redeeming factor for this hotel. All in all, I would not recommend Rjeka...
Read moreOn arrival there was a friendly welcome. Our room was on the second floor with a sea view. It was great, very clean, spacious, good bed and extra pillows, plenty of hanging space, helpful information in a booklet, TV (no English channels), safe, little fridge with mini bar (which leaked a little). The bathroom had a good shower, hooks and was spacious. It was very quiet and peaceful sitting on the balcony. It was just the start of the holiday season so was not very busy.||The free parking was very useful. The hotel is located a couple of kilometres from town for the restaurants and shops. We didn't mind walking in at all and it helped us to work up an appetite.||The breakfast was excellent with a huge choice and something for everyone, with cereals, dried fruits and seeds, salads, cooked options including pancakes and perfectly cooked eggs, cold meat and cheese, and such delicious breads and pastries, plus good coffee and tea. It changed slightly each day. All staff were very good in the restaurant.||One evening we wanted to check if a certain restaurant was open and the receptionist helped us without hesitation.||We had an excellent stay and highly...
