Lots of good stuff, nice rooms and common areas and people and activities, but to be honest all outweight by this: the door was locked at night, so far so good, but it also does not open from the inside without the key! As such when I wanted to catch a 6.25am bus to Zagreb and already dropped my keys for checkout, I was locked up inside the hostel without an option to get out or to get to the bus stop. Since busses here only run every three hours, this really screws up my entire day of traveling. It would be a good hostel, but such practical issues need to be sorted out. I just got up at 6am to be stuck inside and need to wait more than 3h for the bus, so I absolutely cannot recommend this place if you want to be able to get out in emergency or even just for early busses. It's a pity because otherwise the hostel was very good and the surroundings are beautiful. Only other issue was that because of construction you currently cannot drink tap water, and it would have been nicer to be aware of that before arrival so that I could have bought water on the way instead of needing to head out again after arrival.
Update after talking to reception: apparently I knocked on the wrong door upstairs and thus the laundry room instead of the staff room, where people would have been available for emergency. Also the door is not regularly locked like this but probably other guests locked it, and it was the first time this situation occured, so I hope and believe they will learn from it. They also let me at least use the shuttle to Plitvice Lakes for free so that I was able to spend some of the bus...

Granted the hostel looked very nice and the fellow backpackers seemed to be having a great time but our situation and experience warrant a very low score.
If you read nothing more of this review, know this...the manager only cares about money and paying customers. I’m sure if we ended up staying there, her attitude would have changed but all we got was a very rude, zero hospitality, money hunger manager.
We came to this hostel at 2200 in the evening just to ask a simple question about the local bus times, as everyone in Korenica worried us and said there were zero more buses coming through and going to Zadar, even though Zadar and the Internet said there would be one last one, close to midnight.
When we got to the hostel, the reception was very sweet but wasn’t from the area so she went and got the manager. The Manager literally walked up to us and said you have two options, rent a room or leave.
As you can see, even though it was only 2200 at night (reception doesn’t close until 2300) all she cared about was paying customers and not helping out two very worried and potentially stranded backpackers.
Felt like the traveling world should be aware of his lack of hospitality to...
Read moreThis is the perfect hostel if you want to visit the Plitvice Lakes. We visited in May, and there was a daily shuttle bus to the park at 8am. I believe there is a shuttle every half-hour but don't know if this depends on demand. It's only 3.50€ each way and takes about 15 minutes.
If the weather is nice you can also do some other hikes. They seem pretty well established and worth it if you are there for a couple days.
I had a private room that was basic but comfortable, though the pillows could be better. But the price is great and the facilities are top notch. The whole placed is clead well every day, I really rate it well for cleanliness.
The kitchen is big and stocked for whatever you might want to cook, with a supermarket about 7mins down the road.
The staff were great. Friendly and always available if you had any questions. One of them really helped me out and went above and beyond what he needed to when I found myself in a tough situation.
Overall I can't think of any negatives. It was easy to meet people as the common room and kitchen facilitated conversation, I'm sure the summer months it can get quite busy and even easier to get to know people. If you want to visit the Park, I highly...
