Lots of good stuff, nice rooms and common areas and people and activities, but to be honest all outweight by this: the door was locked at night, so far so good, but it also does not open from the inside without the key! As such when I wanted to catch a 6.25am bus to Zagreb and already dropped my keys for checkout, I was locked up inside the hostel without an option to get out or to get to the bus stop. Since busses here only run every three hours, this really screws up my entire day of traveling. It would be a good hostel, but such practical issues need to be sorted out. I just got up at 6am to be stuck inside and need to wait more than 3h for the bus, so I absolutely cannot recommend this place if you want to be able to get out in emergency or even just for early busses. It's a pity because otherwise the hostel was very good and the surroundings are beautiful. Only other issue was that because of construction you currently cannot drink tap water, and it would have been nicer to be aware of that before arrival so that I could have bought water on the way instead of needing to head out again after arrival.

Update after talking to reception: apparently I knocked on the wrong door upstairs and thus the laundry room instead of the staff room, where people would have been available for emergency. Also the door is not regularly locked like this but probably other guests locked it, and it was the first time this situation occured, so I hope and believe they will learn from it. They also let me at least use the shuttle to Plitvice Lakes for free so that I was able to spend some of the bus...

If it was possible, I’d put zero stars!

Granted the hostel looked very nice and the fellow backpackers seemed to be having a great time but our situation and experience warrant a very low score.

If you read nothing more of this review, know this...the manager only cares about money and paying customers. I’m sure if we ended up staying there, her attitude would have changed but all we got was a very rude, zero hospitality, money hunger manager.

We came to this hostel at 2200 in the evening just to ask a simple question about the local bus times, as everyone in Korenica worried us and said there were zero more buses coming through and going to Zadar, even though Zadar and the Internet said there would be one last one, close to midnight.

When we got to the hostel, the reception was very sweet but wasn’t from the area so she went and got the manager. The Manager literally walked up to us and said you have two options, rent a room or leave.

As you can see, even though it was only 2200 at night (reception doesn’t close until 2300) all she cared about was paying customers and not helping out two very worried and potentially stranded backpackers.

Felt like the traveling world should be aware of his lack of hospitality to...

This is the perfect hostel if you want to visit the Plitvice Lakes. We visited in May, and there was a daily shuttle bus to the park at 8am. I believe there is a shuttle every half-hour but don't know if this depends on demand. It's only 3.50€ each way and takes about 15 minutes.

If the weather is nice you can also do some other hikes. They seem pretty well established and worth it if you are there for a couple days.

I had a private room that was basic but comfortable, though the pillows could be better. But the price is great and the facilities are top notch. The whole placed is clead well every day, I really rate it well for cleanliness.

The kitchen is big and stocked for whatever you might want to cook, with a supermarket about 7mins down the road.

The staff were great. Friendly and always available if you had any questions. One of them really helped me out and went above and beyond what he needed to when I found myself in a tough situation.

Overall I can't think of any negatives. It was easy to meet people as the common room and kitchen facilitated conversation, I'm sure the summer months it can get quite busy and even easier to get to know people. If you want to visit the Park, I highly...

Really incredible hostel! If you love nature and want to be super social without drinking and partying, this is the perfect place. The main thing to do in this area is the plitvice lakes National park and the hostel provides a shuttle service there and back, and you can make friends on the shuttle if you want a buddy to spend the day at this beautiful park in. There are two hikes near the hostel, one 20km/7hr hike and one 5km/2,5hr hike. The hostel organizes daily group outings to these hikes so you can also go with people, but of course you could also go alone whenever you want. Other activities include a kayaking day, an evening trip to a bear sanctuary, lasagna night and board game night. This is the most chill and fun hostel I’ve every stayed in. Plus the staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and generous.

Best hostel in Europe! The communities that form here are next level amazing for solo travelers! Sandra the manager goes out of her way to make everyone feel welcome and like we are part of a genuine family of travelers. From the family dinners, to the coordinated hikes and kayaking/ cliff jumping trips (not to mention the unesco world heritage site national park) and everything in between, this spot is a MUST if you’re doing the Balkans. Comfy beds, well stocked kitchen, lasagna and chocolate cake night( with Vegetarian options). A highlight is definitely the “free food fridge” where people donate their leftover eggs/ fruit/ whatever else to the next hungry backpacker. I look forward to staying here next time I’m in Croatia!

I absolutely loved my stay here! This hostel has such a homey feel, I almost felt like I was staying in a college dorm (in the best way). There was a grocery store nearby and a full kitchen which was very helpful for long term backpackers. Also, a very welcoming common room, that made it very easy to socialize. We did the Plitvice Lake hike with others in our hostel and it was amazing. We got great advice from a staff member, Natalia, on how to best navigate the parks. I wish I could have stayed longer and done another hike. This is an out doors hostel, so plan around good weather. Would love to stay hear again!
