Guest House Mijić — Hotel in Općina Plitvička Jezera

Our family of 4 with 2 young children spent 2 nights at Guest House Mijic recently and it was great. ||Pros: ||1) Very easy to find as it's right off Highway 522 (which leads directly to Lake Plitvice).||2) Nice accomodations; we had a 1 bed-room with a nice-sized, combination living/dining room (where both of our kids slept; one on a convertible couch, the other in a crib/cot provided by the House), a small kitchen, small bathroom, and a nice, small, covered balcony (which was great for eating on when it was hot outside). ||3) Bed was comfortable, pillows were nice.||4) The apartment was kept cool by 1 A/C in the unit. We'd have preferred two because as it was the kids' sleeping/living room (where the A/C was located) was inevitably much cooler than our room.||||Cons:||1) You're ~20 minutes driving distance from Lake Plitvice N.P. Not a big deal, but back-and-forth, it adds time. ||2) 30 steps up to our apartment. Again, not a big deal, but with a LOT of bags (we're 'Muricans, and do NOT know how to "travel light"), that's a lot of steps.||3) The kitchen was really small - no usable counter space. We ate a few meals in the apartment, so this was more than a minor inconvenience. ||||Would I stay here again? Maybe. The price was GREAT for the amount of space (except the kitchen!), and it was close ENOUGH to the Park; I would look to see if I can't find something as affordable closer...

Stayed overnight to see plitvice Lakes (only go at 7:00 am, crowds are ridiculous). Very clean room, no hassle, friendly people, good room price. First impressions were great. Air conditioning works fine, as does everything else. There was even wifi separately for each floor to guarantee a good connection. Unfortunately only one of the wifi access points worked and signal was bad to the top floor. Also, there was a bad smell for a little bit from the bathroom, might have to do with plumbing. Otherwise very clean and well taken care of. We wanted to jump in the mini pool but it was being cleaned and wasn't filled back up. All in all, a fine overnight stay with a friendly family. Probably way better (and cheaper) than the bigger...

Absolutely amazing location to go visit Plitvice Lakes, Spomenko, the owner and his family were very friendly and accomodating and waited for us to get to the apartment late at night!! What a host! The apartment was absolutely spotless, fresh sheets, not a speck of dust, I was able to relax comfortably in the bedroom and the bathroom was very clean! If you walk 2 minutes down the road, you will come across the town center, including amazing restaurants (may I suggest restoran “Time”, wow), bakeries, supermarkets, pharmacy and bars!
