We stayed at Hotel Tamaris in Tucepi, Croatia, booking through the Finnish travel company Apollo. We arrived by car — and right from the start, everything was surprisingly smooth. Easy to find. No fuss. And then — the moment that stayed with us: Anastasia at the reception.
She greeted us not as guests, but as if we were returning home. In today’s world of giant, automated hotels, that’s rare. Tamaris is not a large hotel, but it holds a kind of warmth most big places forgot. They welcomed us as people, not bookings.
Our room had just been renovated (apartments)— and it was done with real care. Every detail felt considered. The bed (a true double, with a single shared mattress and soft topper) felt almost royal. Our bodies truly rested there. The bedroom was spacious. So was the living area. The kitchen came fully equipped, and when we asked, a coffee maker and kettle appeared in moments — not as a transaction, but as a gesture. Silva was the second person who treated us as well as valued guests.
We had breakfast on the balcony, listening to the Adriatic waves, the scent of pine trees in the air, birdsong woven in. That kind of harmony — it’s not common. Everything met in one place.
What makes this place unique is not just its comfort, but its soul. It’s set in a quiet village, away from the crowded tourist flow, yet it manages to bring together modern convenience and something deeply human. That’s what we valued most.
Every small request was met not just with speed, but with attentiveness — not “customer service” in the mechanical sense, but a living response. There’s a gym. A lovely spa salon. We made pedicure. A sea view from our room. I swam every morning in the bay, just after sunrise — and at that hour, the sea is yours alone.
And then — just next to the hotel’s grounds — a 14th-century church, built on the ruins of a Roman villa. Time itself breathes here. Somehow, in this one place, everything we love came together: presence, beauty, kindness, quiet.
Tamaris reminded us that hospitality is not about following algorithms, but about remembering how to be human. Technology supports them — but it doesn’t replace the heart.
This place sings softly. And if you can hear it — you’ll know it was worth the journey.
Rooms were spacious. Car parking 🅿️- easy. They even give separate beach towels!
The only thing we missed- is...
Read moreWe first visited Tamaris Aparthotel back in 2018 and loved it so much that we planned to return in 2020—unfortunately COVID put that on hold. This year we finally made it back, and it was the perfect choice for our honeymoon.||Location & Hotel||The location is unbeatable—right on the beach—and the whole place is clean, modern, and beautifully kept.||Food||One of the main reasons we wanted to return was the food, and we’re happy to say it was just as fantastic as we remembered. We booked half board, and it was well worth it.||Breakfast: buffet with a huge variety of options.||Dinner: a set menu each night, prepared to a really high standard. The starter and special dish changed daily, which kept things interesting.||By the 8th day, we would have liked to see the menu rotate a bit more, but honestly the quality was consistently excellent.||The bread with olive oil deserves a special mention—it was simple but unforgettable.||The traditional Croatian night was a real highlight and such a memorable experience.||Staff||The staff made our stay even more special. Every single member of the restaurant team was friendly, welcoming, and professional—we truly enjoyed seeing them each day. At reception, Silva in particular stood out—she was so kind and helpful, and her warm personality really made an impression.||Downsides (Compared to 2018)||Sunbeds: you need to be up very early (around 6:30am) to secure one. Although the hotel does provide them, carrying them down to the beach can be a bit of a chore.||Late check-out: if you have a late flight and want to keep your room longer, there’s now an additional €140 charge, which wasn’t the case before.||Pool area: slightly on the small side, but with such a beautiful beach just steps away, it’s hardly a problem.||Overall||That said, these are only minor things in what was otherwise an amazing stay.||Tamaris Aparthotel is a gem. Between the beachfront location, amazing food, and wonderful staff, it’s the perfect spot for a relaxing holiday—and for us, an unforgettable honeymoon. We can’t wait to...
Read moreWhat a lovely hotel! We felt incredibly well looked after during our stay. The hotel and rooms are exceptionally clean. Staff are wonderful, especially Silva. We all enjoyed breakfast - plenty of variety. The children especially loved the fresh fruit, and the pancakes. Eggs/omelette available to order. Not forgetting the donuts too! Very pleasantly surprised to find oat milk available at breakfast which is my preference.||||The hotel itself is seconds from the beach which was perfect (beach shoes a must). The hotel does have a number of sun loungers and umbrellas to sign out in the morning (for free) if you don't mind getting up early to sort yourself. The pool is small but was perfect for the children - in the afternoon it is shady which was a real bonus. Definitely bring a snorkel if you have one - there are so many fish and starfish to enjoy in the sea!||||We didn't eat in the restaurant during our stay but it was always busy, and definitely looked the sort of place for a nice upmarket meal. For a couple of nights during our stay there was live music - we really enjoyed being able to listen from our balcony. We cooked a couple of meals in our apartment, the electric hob was great for rustling up a quick pasta dish. Having a fridge freezer was a real winner. The hotel offers the option of ordering shopping to your room (via their app) or there is a small supermarket approx 10 minutes walk away.||||The hotel does offer transfers but due to there being five of us, we had to arrange these separately. Our separately booked transfer with Denis (and his father) was very comfortable - I'm not allowed to name the company on here but very happy to be messaged for it. We would highly recommend.||||Outside of the hotel is a beautiful, tiny and very old chapel (1300s). With more time we would have loved to have done more sightseeing.||||Overall very pleased with this hotel and wouldn't hesitate to go back. Thank you...
