Filokypros Eveleos Country House — Hotel in Tochni

Location||||Eveleos Country House is located in the countryside in a picturesque old village with some nice views over the countryside. Limassol city itself is about 25 min drive. Closest beach called Governor is about 10minutes drive. It’s an ok beach, grey sound power station close by but clear sea. However Ayia Napa area is better (white sand, nicer beaches and landscape) and that is about 1 hour drive. The local airport of Larnaca is about 30 minutes drive away. It’s really a location where a car is essential. The village does have a taverna but didn’t visit. Small old kind of Greek village, looks picturesque but little of anything to do about half an hour walk around it. ||||Room||||The room has some very good points but also major weaknesses. ||The family villa is a self catering kitchen living room set up with a separate bedroom & bathroom. The living room has a real authentic Cyprus character about it, wooden furnishings and ceiling with stone kitchen unit etc and it is quite cosy. This rooms offers a clean & decent electric stove, oven with pans & plenty of plates, kitchen & tableware. There is a kettle & coffee brewer but no filters offered or unsure how to use it since no explanation how to use for anything. ||However they kindly provide a loaf of bread, some small butters in the fridge, eggs & bottle of water. This is what your breakfast is. ||A nice wooden table for two to eat from, small sofa (can be folded out into a bed) & coffee table. The decor is nice with an old rural feel. They even provide candles, mosquito plugs, some books & playing cards in the drawers. ||The TV however is old & has a separate satellite unit - after an hour of trying to understand how to use it, I gave up. Since no details of how to use the remotes is offered. Shame as I like to check out local TV but actually I think talking to other guests, its just decoration and has no use. ||The bedroom is quite nice with a four poster firm bed but the bedding is disappointing with scratchy un-soft sheets. They do have lamps and plug sockets close by. Plus a desk & old nice wardrobe with a small safe. AC unit is offered in both rooms. ||The bathroom has a combined bath & shower but water was not that hot. Plus Bring Your Own amenities since they offer nothing to shower with, only soap dispenser for hands which was not nice to shower with and at the price I didn’t expect to bring any body soap. I mean even cheap old rubbish ibis hotels in Europe offers shower gel dispenser in addition to hand soap but not here. ||Whilst the room essentially looks great, cleanliness is an issue. Whilst I never have noticed cob webs in any of the 200+ places I have staged, this room was very noticeable. Cob webs in every corner and ceiling noticeable when your showering or at the desk. I have arachnophobia so didn't sleep well. Plus plenty of insects in room & generally didn't give a great impression. ||For the price paid, given that it’s not at the beach and eighty pounds a night, I think they could be a little more effort to cleanliness & include at least a soap for showering! ||||Facilities||WiFi was good & worked well. ||There is a nice infinity pool which was busy during day & on my visit was two older men in thongs - not a pleasant sight! Obviously car parking is offered & the bread and eggs is your room is basically the breakfast offering. ||||Staff ||Following so many reviews from 1-5 star accommodations, this is the first place where there is no staff. When I arrived a neighbour pointed out the letters on the door with guest names. This explains WiFi password but lacking in detail as to where the room is. Ended up walking around the building asking other hotel guests since directions confused me. I would suggest a map! They do offer a number to call though. ||||Overall the authentic character of the room is nice & choose it based on reviews but disappointed because basically no tv works, room is full of cobwebs, Scratchy bedding & no decent soap to shower with, plus no staff to talk to. ||Perhaps I am being too picky but still at the rate they charge, one can get a hotel by the beach etc .. whereby you wouldn’t need...

Wir können uns eigentlich nur unseren Vorkritikern anschließen. Es ist einfach schön hier. Die beiden Besitzer kümmern sich einfach um Alles. Sie bieten auch einen zypriotisch/Türkisch/griechischen Kochkurs an. Fragt einfach die Besitzer Cleo und Andreas, sie sprechen sehr gut Deutsch.

Tochni selbst liegt ein wenig im Hinterland (7 Kilometer direkt zum Strand) aber lasst euch davon nicht abschrecken. Es gibt von hier aus super viel zu entdecken. Aber ohne Mietwagen oder ohne gute Wanderschuhe gibt es erstmal nichts. By the way, außerhalb des Robinson Club Cyprus welcher ca. 10 Kilometer weg ist, gibt es einen tollen Fahrrad Verleih, der unabhängig vom Club, Fahrräder, auch E-Bikes verleiht. Fahrt dorthin, die sprechen Deutsch. Die nennen sich „Cyprus Bikes“. Die Leute bieten auch geführte Touren durch diese herrliche Gegend an. Wir haben eine Kleine mitgemacht, super. Besser könnt ihr die Gegend nicht erkunden. Also zurück zu Cleo und Andreas: Super nette Leute, sie werden sich auf jeden Fall um alles kümmern, fragt sie einfach.

So und jetzt zum Ort: Tochni liegt etwas im Hinterland, mit dem Auto ca. 10 Minuten zum ersten Strand. Lasst euch davon nicht abschrecken, wenn ihr ein Auto habt werdet ihr euren Strandfavoriten oder was sonst noch, schon finden. Wir haben keine Zimmerfotos gemacht, denn die im Netz sehen genau so aus. Wir selbst haben im Apartment Nummer 9 gewohnt, welches zweistöckig ist und von der dazugehörigen Terrasse hat man eine sensationelle Aussicht auf das Dorf und natürlich auch auf das Meer.

Zum Schluss: Im Dorf unten, gibt es einen kleinen Supermarkt, um die wichtigsten Nahrungsmittel für das Appartement zu kaufen. Für den ersten Tag hat Cleo im Appartement auch Brot und Butter und auch Wasser bereit gestellt, den Rest bekommt ihr dort. Falls ihr am Anreisetag keinen Bock auf Besorgungen habt, haben die im Dorf direkt gegenüber des kleinen Supermarkts eine Taverne (Nostos Taverne) installiert, welche euch mit Essen und Trinken versorgen wird. Es wird für Einige nicht die kulinarische Offenbarung sein, aber Eireen (tatsächlich englisch ausgesprochen und der Rest der Familie werden euch auf jeden Fall willkommen heißen , denn hier seid ihr zu Hause. Achtung an alle konditionell Schwachen: Trinkt nicht zu viel dort, denn der Rückweg wird hart, soll heißen, der Rückweg ist kurz, aber hart (184cm, 120 kg) :-) . Hat man mal keine Lust auf Eireen, geht man von hier aus den Gegenhang hoch, trifft man auf die Tochni Taverne, welche im Gegensatz zu der Nostos Taverne eher ein klein wenig touristischer und größer angelegt ist, aber nicht minder gut (natürlich Geschmacksache). Aber der Weg dorthin will auch erlaufen sein. Wie gesagt184/120 und Raucher.

Langer Rede kurzer Sinn: Einfach schön hier, glaubt den Bildern, meine wären nicht besser gewesen, passt schon. PS: Falls ihr mit dem Mietwagen anreist, ist es ein wenig schwer zu finden, in der Nacht wird das schwierig. Aber informiert euch einfach über G.Maps vorher, dann funktioniert das schon. Achtet einfach auf die spärlich angeordneten Schilder, wir haben es auch ohne Einheimische gefunden. Es...

Everything was great. The studio had all amenities and was renovated while keeping its old traditional village character at the same time. Quiet environment. Very clean pool. The people staying in the other studios were quite nice and I am happy to say that we have made friends we still keep in touch with, and even though we stayed less than a week. There is not much to do around Tochni, but someone seeking relaxation can easily pass their time in Eveleos House. Tips: 1)Tochni has two taverns but they open mostly for dinner. 2)Go to Kalavasos if you need groceries/bakery. 3)Zygi, which is quite close, has renowned fish taverns serving fresh fish - Agios Theodoros also. 4)Limassol city centre is only about 20 minutes away by car. Also, I could say that the village of Tochni is centrally located in the middle of Nicosia, Larnaca (airport)...
