We visited Tochni Tavern to celebrate my birthday, drawn by its high rating on Google Maps and the promise of a beautiful view. Unfortunately, the experience did not meet our expectations. Although we were seated outdoors, we had no view at all, as we were placed in a corner behind a windscreen. This was disappointing, especially since the view was one of the main reasons we chose this tavern. We ordered meze for 7 people, but the portions were surprisingly small. Some dishes, like the oven-baked pasta, didn’t even have enough for each person to try a piece. Overall, it felt more like individual-sized portions than a proper shared meze experience. The flavors were also unusual—many dishes came with sauces that didn’t resemble traditional Cypriot meze, and the combinations didn’t quite work. Beyond that, the food did not appear fresh — several items gave the impression of being pre-cooked or possibly frozen, lacking the taste and texture of freshly prepared dishes. The meatballs were undercooked, red on the inside. When we asked for replacements, we were brought new ones, but unfortunately, they had the same issue. Among the dishes was some halloumi and cheese included in the meze, and we simply asked for 2 extra pieces for the children. We were surprised to be charged an additional €8 just for that small request. Finally, we noticed that the table next to us, who also ordered meze, were offered a complimentary dessert at the end of their meal. We, however, received nothing. While it may seem minor, these small gestures are part of what makes a dining experience feel warm and welcoming — and their absence was noticeable. On a positive note, the owners were kind and polite, and they did ask us at the end if everything was okay. We appreciated that. However, considering the food, service, and the long drive to get there, we left disappointed and won’t be returning. Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2 out of 5)

A Truly Unforgettable Experience at TOHCNI Taverna – A Hidden Gem in Cyprus! My wife and I had the absolute pleasure of dining and staying at TOHCNI Taverna in Cyprus, and we can wholeheartedly say it was one of the best experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. The staff are not only professional but also incredibly kind, attentive, and passionate about what they do. They made us feel like family, and that made all the difference. The food? Absolutely phenomenal. Every dish we tried was bursting with authentic flavors, crafted with care and using the freshest ingredients. It was a true celebration of Cypriot cuisine — rich, flavorful, and absolutely unforgettable. We were amazed by the level of culinary excellence. The music added so much to the experience — a perfect blend of traditional and lively sounds that created an uplifting and festive atmosphere without ever being overwhelming. It felt like a real, authentic taverna — full of life, soul, and joy. We were also lucky to stay in one of their on-site apartments, which was both charming and comfortable, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of the village and the taverna itself. Everything was spotless, well-maintained, and full of character. TOHCNI Taverna is more than just a restaurant — it’s an experience, a feeling, a memory you’ll cherish. We can’t recommend it enough. If you’re visiting Cyprus and want to taste real local culture, food, music, and hospitality — this is the place to go. We’ll definitely be back!

We came here, looking for a place to eat. But we found so much more. Our actual hotel made a mistake with our reservation and we found ourselves looking for a new room. We called and asked for a table for two people. (We recommend to call upfront). Though it was very busy (there was a wedding party taking place and it was crowded), They took us in kindly and if they were stressed out, they didn’t let anyone know. We found out that they had rooms to rent on our way to the tavern and asked if they had a last minute room for one night. Besides handling a full restaurant, we quickly got a room, the menu and our food without leaving our table. We really recommend the meze and the house special drinks (We had the Plato and Aristoteles). The restaurant has a pool attached and a breathtaking view. The rooms (apartments) are about 10-15 minutes by foot or about 5 minutes by car. Which is good because you never have to fear for your sleep if there is live music in the restaurant. The apartment was clean had a very nice view a separate bath and toilet room , a kitchen and a balcony attached to a nice wintergarden. Tochni is a little village in the mountains. It‘s located very central on the island about one hour and a half to Pafos and one hour to agia Napa. You can take a morning swim in the 10 min drive away „governeurs beach“ and then start your day with a homemade Greek breakfast which is very authentic and „nostimo“ as they say in Greek. We had such a nice stay and a lot of fun in a very nice and homely atmosphere. We‘d give 10 from 5 stars if it were possible!!

Fantastic dining experience!!!

Perched at the very top of one of Cyprus’ oldest villages, the Tochni Tavern offers a truly breathtaking view over its ancient streets and charming old church.

We had the pleasure of dining here twice during our stay, and it was without question, the best place we visited. On both occasions, we were greeted by the owners and thanked as we left - a small but thoughtful touch that made the visits feel even more welcoming. Our waiters, Sakib and Iraz, also took exceptionally good care of us, their kindness and attentiveness making us feel like honoured guests.

This family-owned restaurant serves authentic Cypriot cuisine at its finest. I cannot recommend the Moussaka and Kolokithokeftethes highly enough. We also enjoyed their Cyprus Salad, Halloumi and dip platter and the Ravioli - each dish a delight in its own way. Fresh, fragrant and beautifully presented. Their special cocktails are also not to be missed, with refreshing virgin options available for designated drivers.

The atmosphere is nothing short of magical. We dined amid a lush, abundant garden while gazing out over sweeping Mediterranean vistas. Gentle Greek-style guitar and soulful vocals drifted through the air, adding to the dreamlike quality of the setting.

If you visit, then consider taking a leisurely stroll through the Tochni village beforehand - its narrow streets and timeless charm are an experience in themselves. And should you wish to linger a little longer, the Tavern also offers accommodation within the village, allowing you to wake up to this beautiful...
