Penzion U Karla IV. — Hotel in okres Chomutov

This Hotel is located in the old city centre. It is newly renovated, thus offering comfortable and contemporary furnishings. We had a room in the roof which is spacious despite its slanted sealing. I called this Hotel a contradiction because it presented some oddities. We had a nice big double bed( with two mattresses), but since they were not fitted with a sheet, the mattresses kept on parting in the middle. The mattresses were also partial covered by what looked like an undercover, which contradicted the rest of the style of decorations. Cups and glasses were not clean, while the room and bathroom were spotless. One also would expect a daily room service, but no one came to make up the room during our three day stay (no we did not forget the "do not disturb" sign). The breakfast offered was fair but only offered one hot food option (for one of the days). In contrast the hotel restaurant's food is delicious and everything we had was well prepared and presented. I tried the traditional pork knee and it was a culinary delight. I must add, that the street on either side of the hotel can be a bit noisy at certain times in the evening(despited closed windows). I stayed in this town for a month and at the end of it, I wanted to enjoy this town for the last time and I dediced to go into this penzion's restaurant. In the moment we entered the restaurant, the nervous waitress said us with a really angry voice to go away, cause they are closing. We didnt know it, so I went out and checked it on their door. There were two papers and I didnt understand. But even their were closing at 21, it was only 20:30, so I dont know, why she was that angry. And when I was taking picture of this, she went outside and asked us really nervous and angry what problem did we have. Maybe this restaurant is good, But it really needs to change...

Ok experience. Service is not great, but that seems to be a trademark of Kadan in general. Rooms are big and clean, breakfast was nice and plentiful with solid selection and even offered scrambled eggs. The feel that you get from this place is that it used to be a house with flats. There are some hotel like additions, but it is not super modern place, at the same time it is not super expensive. All an all, good choice for couple of days to stay in, but do not expect anything...
