Pension Clara — Hotel in okres Karlovy Vary

When I asked what time breakfast will be served the manager said they no longer serve it because of COVID. But COVID has been going on for a couple of years now and many reviews, as recent as Aug 2022, commented how great it was. Our stay was in Dec 2022 and COVID began well before Aug 2022. And the Czech government has lifted all COVID mandates now. The only reason why breakfast wasn't being provided is they wanted to save their time and money. So we didn't get what we expected or paid for.

The mattresses on all the beds are extremely hard and uncomfortable. I woke up with back pain the first morning.

No coffee, tea or other compliments are provided. There is a small refrigerator and a kettle but that's it. No microwave or other means for preparing any snacks so don't plan on such an accomodation.

The only toiletries provided are some liquid soap in the bathroom. Be sure to bring everything else that you need.

Parking is not on site but down the street a bit. So bring an umbrella if weather suggests it.

The hot water is turned off at night, I guess so as to conserve energy. So the hot water fed radiators/heaters in the rooms go cold. Just a head's up. Make sure you are prepared for chilly nights.

The shower has very little water pressure so don't expect to enjoy it.

And the last night we were there there was a lot of noise from the room above ours and it continued into the early morning hours. The next day the manager asked how our night was and we told her it was terrible. Sleep disturbed by noise from the room above. She said she had heard it too and was sorry. The she asked why didn't we call her about it at the time. I didn't answer as I thought; she had just said that she'd heard it too so why didn't she do something about it herself? Very low level customer service in my mind.

I truly hope this review prevents others from having a similarly deplorably bad experiences or maybe encourages the manager...

Nice appartment on a good location to explore Karlovy Vary. We we're on a hike and stayed here for the night.

There's a bathroom with a tub, a fridge (don't know if it works, we didn't use it because it had no light), a watercooker, some storage room, a comfortable double bed and your average TV/wifi.

The owner was really friendly and spoke good English. But be ware, the cleaner speaks...
