The host seemed to be a bit in a rush to check us in. We had to phone to meet him to let us into the house. From the reception he sent us to the "Depandance", a building a short walk around the corner. He met us there briefly to hand over the keys. Through the hallway -which had a kitchenette and a sink - one could go to a backyard with tables and chairs. Our room faced the quiet street and consisted of a small entrance room, a good size bathroom and a large bedroom with king size bed, sofa and desk. Everything looked fairly new and well kept. The decor was "Provence Style" with friendly colours and a charming ambience. The negative thing was the noise from the apartment upstairs. Every step could be heard on the wooden floors.||The location in the town center allows walks to all attractions, especially the castle and the river overview. We enjoyed a nice local meal and in a traditional restaurant nearby in the premises of a medieval fortress.||Coming out of a country were COVID precautions are still mandatory we were surprised that we could take in our breakfast without masks, social distancing and even help ourselves to a buffet. It made us feel a bit uncomfortable and we tried to avoid standing shoulder to shoulder with the other guests and used disinfection (which was provided) after using the shared serving spoons. ||Unfortunately we could only spend one night here but would love...
Read moreWe stayed here for a night while cycling Prague to Dresden. ||The penzion was brilliant at accommodating our bikes and kept them in a safe locked garage for us. ||The rooms are all different themes and very quirky...we stayed in the music room so there was musical notes on the sink and tiles. Violins on the walls and record rugs!! A total mish mash of music but it worked!||The shower was wonderfully hot but only enough hot water for one person...the second person got a cold shower! (Oops). ||The room and the bed was very comfy and quiet with little street noise. ||Final thing is the rooms are in a different building to where breakfast is served. Read morePenzion U Zámku is one of the hotels that we use for our clients on bike tours from Prague to Dresden. It is housed in a lovely building, just a few steps from the castle, church and the viewpoint towards the confluence of the Elbe and Vltava rivers; and just a few more from the town centre.
The pretty rooms are spacious and comfortable. They are all decorated individually and equipped with flat-screen TVs, a minibar, a kettle and individually controlled radiators. The bathrooms are fitted with very good showers.
The guest house serves a good breakfast and the owners/staff are very friendly and helpful.
The secure and covered bike parking is easily accessible...
